Amos fought in the Civil War. In August 1861, as a resident of Berwick, Maine, he enlisted as a private in the 3rd N.H. Regiment, Co. I. He was mustered out on 23 August 1864. At a later date his post office address was East Rochester, N.H.(3012) They lived in Berwick near the Lebanon town line. In addition to the children listed below (order uncertain) they had a son who died young.(3013)
