He married Joanna Pierce, 11 February 1819, in Lebanon, York County, Maine.(2455) They were married the same day, and by the same person, as Amos P. Wallingford and Rhoda Blaisdell, but at present there appears no close relationship between Amos and William.
Joanna was born in 1793, in Maine. (Based on the 1850 census, if she is the "Jean" enumerated there.)
In the 1850 census her name was given as Jean, although she may have died and Jean could be a second wife for William.
He was enumerated with wife Jean and daughter Sarah in the 1850 census of Berwick, Maine. He was a farmer on a piece of land worth only $75.(2456) There is no conclusive proof that he was the son of Garland. It is only conjecture by Shackford.
William B. Wallingford and Joanna Pierce had the following children:
562 i. Jane8 Wallingford was born in Lebanon, York County, Maine 6 February 1823.(2457) Jane died 9 April 1902, in Rochester, Strafford County, New Hampshire.(2458) She married another Daniel Wallingford, whose place in the genealogy is in some doubt and can be found in the "Lebanon Wallingfords" appendix.
+ 563 ii. Ebenezer Wallingford was born in 1830.
564 iii. Isaac Wallingford was born in 1832.(2459) He may be the Isaac Wallingford, aged 55, who died "at Reuben Wallingford's" on 29 January 1885.(2460) No other presently known Isaac comes close to being the one.
+ 565 iv. John Wallingford was born in 1834.
566 v. Sarah Wallingford was born in 1836.(2461) Might she be the Sarah Wallingford "of Berwick" who married, 21 July 1854, in Berwick, Ivory Henry Hayes.(2462) See the "Unconnected Individuals" appendix for more on this couple. Her brother Ebenezer was married in Berwick less than three months later.(2463) She is also a candidate to be the widow Sarah Staples, age 59 years, 10 months, who died in Somersworth on 17 February 1887, daughter of William Wallingford (b.Lebanon) and Jennette (b.Lebanon).(2464) If "Jennette" is a nickname or misprint for Joanna, it would be a match. There is also a Miss Sarah Wallingford who married Charles P. Stevens in Lebanon on 4 May 1851.(2465)
