399. Ives7 Wallingford (David6, David5, Jonathan4, Nicholas3, Nicholas2, Nicholas1) was born in Milton, Strafford County, New Hampshire 9 April 1805 or 1809.(2274) The Locke Genealogy says he was born 9 April 1809, but the 1850 census has him as aged 45 and his age at death would place his birth on 9 April 1805. The town of birth is taken from an IGI record. His death record states only that he was born in N.H. Ives died of "old age", 21 February 1884, in Watervliet, Berrien County, Michigan, at 78 years of age.(2275)

He married Maria O. Locke, in 1827. The Locke Genealogy states that they were married about 1830(2276) , but their son George appears to have been aged 52 in1880, implying an earlier date for their marriage.

Maria was born 4 August 1806, in Stanstead, Quebec, Canada.(2277) Maria was the daughter of James Munroe Locke and Abigail Sherburne. Maria died of "Paralysis", 27 June 1876, in Watervliet, Berrien County, Michigan, at 69 years of age.(2278)

He settled as a farmer in Columbia, Michigan in 1836.(2279) Based on the places of birth of his children given in the 1850 census it appears that the family left Canada between 1830 and 1832. By about 1838 they were in Ohio, and about 1844 were in Illinois. In 1850 he was living in Division No. 10 of Berrien County, Michigan as a 45-year-old shoemaker born in New Hampshire. With him were his wife Maria, age 43 born in Canada, daughter Maria age 18 born in Canada, daughter Ann L. age 12 born in Ohio, and son James E. age 6 born in Illinois.(2280) On 6 July 1870 Ives and his wife Maria and their son James were enumerated in the census of Watervliet, Berrien Co., Michigan. Ives was listed as 65-year old a shoemaker born in New Hampshire and Maria a 69-year old house-keeper born in Canada. James was 26 and born in Illinois and his occupation reads either "Rit Grocer" or "Ret Grocer". "Ret" could stand for retired, but at 26 this seems unusual, unless he was disabled in some way. Ives' real estate was worth $2000 and his personal estate worth $600(2281).

Ives Wallingford and Maria O. Locke had the following children:

child 511 i. George S.8 Wallingford was born in Canada about 1827/28. (Assuming he is the individual found in the 1880 census in Table Bluff, California.) According to the Locke Genealogy, he lived in California.(2282) He is likely the G.S. Wallingford (indexed as Hallingford on the LDS website), age 52, born in Canada to a father born in NH and a mother born in Canada, who was living in Table Bluff, California in 1880. This individual lived alone and worked as a wheelwright.(2283) His age at 52 would have him as being born before the approximate marriage date given in the Locke Genealogy for his parents (1830), but perhaps that date is in error.

child 512 ii. Charles Wallingford was born in Canada about 1830. (Based on the 1850 census) He is probably the Charles Wallingford living with the family of Christopher C. and Ersala M. Abbott in Division No. 10 of Berrien County, Michigan.(2284) He is missing from his father's family which is located elsewhere in the same Berrien County division. He was later reported as unmarried in a family genealogy.(2285)

child + 513 iii. Maria Wallingford was born about 1832.

child + 514 iv. Ann L. Wallingford was born about 1838.

child 515 v. James E. Wallingford was born in Illinois about 1844. (Based on the 1850 census) He lived in Kansas.(2286)
