Fourth Generation

23. Edward Franklin4 Aaron (Joseph3, Moss2, Barney1) was born in Malden, Middlesex County, Massachusetts 18 June 1893.(88) Edward died of polio, 15 October 1917, at 295 Wyoming Avenue, in Stoneham, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.(89) He was buried in Forestdale Cemetery in Malden October 16th.

He married Mildred Anna Caswell, 30 May 1917, in Melrose, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.(90) Mildred was born ca. 1899-1900, in Allston, Mass.. The approximate date and place of her birth come from her marriage record. She was age 10 in the 1910 census and 20 in the 1920 census. Her birth couldn't be located in the Mass. vital records indexes for the years 1896-1905, although there was a Mildred Ilene in Whitman, Mass., a Mildred Mary in North Brookfield and a Mildred J. in New Bedford. Mildred was the daughter of Henry W. Caswell and Lydia A. Martin.

Mildred is deceased. SSDI has two possible Mildred Caswells. The first was born 26 June 1895 and died Dec 1970 in Marblehead(?). The second was born 29 August 1898 and died 30 June 1989 in Brewer, ME(?) There were also a couple who were from NH that were less likely.

The 1910 census of Malden, where he was living with his parents, lists him as an apprentice in a dye house.(92) At the time of his marriage he gave his occupation as "Teamster". When his son was born Edward had been dead a week but the birth certificate gave his occupation as milkman. His residence was 304 Washington St. in Melrose.

Mildred was living with her parents and siblings on Franklin St. in Cambridge when the 1910 census was taken.(93) After the death of her husband and son she moved back in with her parents, in whose household she was enumerated when the 1920 census was taken. They were living on Folsom Ave. in Melrose at the time. She was widowed and working in a shoe factory at the time. Her surname was Caswell, not Aaron, in the census.(94) She wasn't found in her parents' household in the 1930 census(95) , so may have remarried by this time.

Edward Franklin Aaron and Mildred Anna Caswell had the following child:

child 33 i. Edward Franklin5 Aaron Jr. was born in Stoneham, Middlesex County, Massachusetts 22 October 1917.(96) At the time of his birth his mother was living at 304 Washington St. in Melrose, Mass., and his father had just died a week earlier. Edward died of accidental suffocation in bed, 6 March 1918, at home, 296 Folsom Avenue, in Melrose, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, aged only a little more than four months.(97) He was buried March 8th in Forestdale Cemetery in Malden, Mass.
