He married Margaret Smith, 9 July 1769, in Evie, Orkney Islands, Scotland.⁽²²⁷⁾ Margaret was born say 1750.

Magnus Linklater and Margaret Smith had the following child:

Ann² Linklater was born in Evie, Orkney Islands, Scotland 24 November 1769.⁽²²⁸⁾ Ann died of "natural decay", 8 November 1857, on Victoria St., in Kirkwall, Orkney Islands, Scotland, at 87 years of age.⁽²²⁹⁾ She married Robert Johnston, 22 June 1793, in the parish of Evie & Rendall, Orkney Islands, Scotland.⁽²³⁰⁾ Robert died before November 1857.
