William Tenant de Crofton

Records show concentrations of Tennant's in the central belt of Scotland, in Falkirk, West Lothian, Ayrshire, Lanarkshire and Glasgow. Note that Linlescu or Linlefcu was later called Linlithgow and is now part of the County of West Lothian.

William Tenant de Crofton (tenant le Roi du counte de Linlefcu) as per Ragman Rolls. or William Tenant of Croston (of the County of Linlithgow)-my transalation. This Link also contains information about John Tennant, Mosside, Wester Inch and my other ideas prior to deciding that Corston was the most likely 1296 Tennant home. But see the link below for the latest information.

Is this where the Tennant family lived in 1296 ? Map showing the site in the County of Linlithgow and the logic behind its selection. Plus Linnhouse and Rev.William Tennent

I would expect most of these ruins to be too modern for 1296. Nevertheless they would probably incorporate parts of earlier buildings.

Photo shows view of the Byre from the yard.

Horizontal line shows where the wall height has been increased, perhaps when the modern corrigated roof replaced one made of turf. Note also the vertical line where the original building was extended.
