Church Conservation Trust |
|
| The Churches Conservation Trust
currently maintains 312 plus redundant Churches preserving
them for the nation. There are many reasons why a church
becomes redundant including, migration from rural areas and
decline in church attendance. |
|
| A redundant church is a
consecrated church belonging to the Church of England which
has been declared redundant under the procedure of the
Pastoral Measures (1968 or 1983) because it is no longer
required for regular worship. |
|
| The churches vested in The Trust
remain consecrated, they are still churches and may still
play a part in the community. Occasional services, concerts,
art and history exhibitions and flower festivals are
encouraged by The Trust who have the power to grant leases
for the use of its churches. |
