The James Brumley listed in Dwelling #422 is believed to be a brother of David Joshua although their ages are 30 years apart.  Rachel Brumley, the mother in the household of James would have been 38 years old when he was born and 19 years old when David Joshua was born.

From an article "Daughter of Arkansas Pioneers Still Blazing New Trails";Sat. 19 July 1969:

"...Mrs (Martha) McClard was born in the Alamo Community of Montgomery county in 1885 to Rebecca and Joshua Brumley. Both migrated to Arkansas with their respective parents."

"Rebecca came from Peach Tree, GA., and Joshua from Tennessee. They met and married in the Alamo community (where Mr. McBride farmed and taught school). The couple reared a family of 16 children. Mrs Mclard and hersister Mary were twins."

Information from Rebecca Jane's "Widows Pension File" gives the date of her marriage to Joshua Brumley as 1857 in Polk, County, AR.

=============================================================

Joshua served as a Pvt in Co. H, 24th Regt. of Infantry, Arkansas (Confederate) from 1862 to Sept 1862 when he was transferred to Hart's Battery at White Sulphur Sprigs in Jefferson Co., Ar. [Deposition by G Perlin, Second Seargent, Co. H.] It appears that he was transferred to Co. D 19 Regt. (Portlock Regt.) Ark. C.S.A. He was captured by Union Forces January 11, 1863 at Arkansas Post, Ark. and confined in the Military Prisons and Hospitals at St Louis, Mo., April 1, 1863. He was "...discharged (paroled or released) from such service on or about 10th day of May 1865..."

Confederate Soldier Pension File #4609 from Arkansas History Commission, One Capitol Mall, Little Rock, AR., 72201.

In Joshua's Application form the number is given as 4609 , shown as Approved and dated 10 Aug 1907 for $75.00. There are also three depositions given to support Joshua's application which were given by individuals who knew him, viz. A.D. Shaw, MD, dated 8 Jul 1907; F.C. McBride dated 8 Jul 1907; G. Peden dated 8 Jul 1907. The fact that the depositions were made in 1907 would indicate that the information I had before; that Joshua had died 6 Nov 1906 was in error. And that the 10 July 1908 date in Rebecca's statement is more likely correct.
