Essex Co VA Deed Book 33:184, Joice deeded a slave to her siblings in 1789.
The date for her death as bef. 1789 received from other sources seems tobe in error. There is a land record from Spotsylvaia Co., VA. 6 Sep1796 which mentions Susannah Garnett which seems to be the widow ofThomas. This along with one dated 5 Feb 1799 from Philip Garnett and hiswife Elizabeth to Susannah Garnett would also seem to be the mother ofPhilip and widow of Thomas. - T. King
FORKS OF THE ELKHORN CHURCH Book written by Ermina Jett Darnell 1939:
Thomas Garnett was in W(oodford Co.) 1788, and probably went to Clark. His wife was Susanna (Pulliam?) and their children were: Philip R. (m. Elizabeth Dudley, Spotsylvania 1799? He went to Jefferson, but was in W. 1803), Elizabeth R (Garnett) Bohannon, William (who evidently was the son-in-law of James Garnett [and Ann Shipp]). He lived on Glen's Creek but may have removed to Gallatin about 1820. Another William was on Clear Creek W.1800, and Hugh and James were there in 1816. One Wiliam had a family often W 1810. Susan (dau William) m. Ovid McCracken.
2 May 1999: There is some question as to the maiden name of the wife ofThomas. This source has it as possibly Pulliam. Doug Garnett and others have it as Andrews. However, in a letter written by Maria, a daughter of William (son of Thomas), to her nephew Willie Davis she states that her father told her that his mother was a Richards. I am presently using Andrews as her maiden name but am continuing research on the matter. -T. King
