Miss Josphine (Dorothy) CARRICAN and Harold SMITH were married Friday May 19, 1931. Per Enfield NY Tompkins County, news of The Church Messenger. Josie was daughter of Samuel and Concetta Leonardo Carrican. The surname Carrican was Americanized from an Italian spelling. Her sister Frances was born 8/13/1924 Cuylerville NY and died 2/2006 as Frances Grossi Simpson.

From the Ithaca Journal (Tuesday, December 13, 1949): Funeral services for CHARLES F. ALLEN, of Trumansburg who died December 9, 1949, in Albion (Orleans Co NY), were held 3 pm, Monday in the Stewart-Rhode Funeral Home, Trumansburg, with Rev. Ellis Eaton, pastor of the First Baptist Church officating. Bearers were Frank Bower, Howard Carey, Charles Holton, Mary Jewhurst, Robert Sirrine and Howard SMITH. Interment was in Grove Cemetery.

Harold is said to have had a brother Harold who married a Norma. There is also a Marjorie Ribble mentioned. Harold's son, Richard b 1935 died in 2009 ~ see Obit briefs page.

Rose M. Henderson, 64, of 3 Ross Road, Lansing NY, died Tuesday, December 26, 2000 at Cayuga Medical Center. Born October 6, 1936 in Tonawanda, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Rose Luberacki Kelley. Prior to retirement in 1998, Mrs. Henderson had been employed by NCR. She was born in Cuylerville, NY on April 10, 1916 and came to Ithaca with her family in her teens. She was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Marie Junta Leonardo, and widow of Martin A. OWEN, Charles B, born 7/15/1822 on homestead near Jacksonville NY was educated in his father's select school at home, with 6 months at Friends Nine Partners Boarding School. He is a leading farmers of his town. Charles married 5/15/1844 Sarah OTIS of Sherwood, Cayuga Co NY; and of their issue, two survive: Herman F (md Jane Aldrich of Steuben Co), and Rebecca (md Jesse MeKeel). Mrs. OWEN died 2/29/1876; Charles remarried Flora A. HOUSEL, of Ithaca, born Townsendville, Seneca Co NY and have a daughter, Mary A. Mr. OWEN's father, Aaron K OWEN, was born 1794 in Orange county, coming here with his parents as a boy. His first wife was Mary DUNHAM, and his second was Martha CARMAN, by whom he had six children: Parvis W, Mary, Charles B, Deborah, Martha, and Freelove. Mrs. OWEN was born 1795, Greene Co NY. Aaron K OWEN died May 15, 1847; his wife November 7, 1871.

OWEN, Duane D, was born 2/26/1845, in Homer, Cortland Co NY, s/o F. M. OWEN of the mercantile business. Duane was educated in the common schools, followed by farming about 8 years, and then worked in a shoe peg factory for about 8 years. Then engaged in manufacturing iron gears for sleighs and wagons until 1890 in which year he moved to Ithaca, where he bought the VAN HOUTER lumber yard, and has since conducted business, handling hard and soft lumber, prepared to furnish building needs (shingles, lath, etc., as well as trimmings, posts, ornaments, etc.). Mr. OWEN is a staunch Republican. He is member of the order of K. of P., also a member of the Baptist Church. Duane married 12/9/1891 Ms Frances E DUNHAM, of Ithaca. By his former wife he has one daughter, in her fourteenth year.

Harold (Harry) E Beuter was s/o George and Cora Callahan Beuter; born Tioga Co PA (Manhattan) 2/21/1902 and died (as Harold Bewter) in Ithaca at Stewart Park (suicide) on November 5, 1935; he worked as storeroom foreman in the cafeteria at Home Economics Building for CU. The name Beuter is also seen as Bewter. Cora was also married to a Russell and a Teeter by whom she had one son each. Harold Bewter shows in 1920 at Town of Veteran, Chemung Co NY as stepson of Frank Tetter (Teeter) and Cora along with his half brother, Merill Tetter (Teeter), living next Wm and Anna White Teeter family (ch: Glenn; *Harvey; Edwin; Herbert). Andrew served with Napoleon for 8 years. Sarah as likely sister to Charles who married Caroline Barnhart and Frederick who married Phoebe Gribble. Frederick's daughter Elizabeth married Fred Myers; who was cousin to Samuel Robacker (s/o J George Robacker and Sarah A Eckert Robacker. Also, it appears that Charles Rohrbacher married an Emma (?Caroline Barnhart) and had ch: Nelson who md a Libby and had Charles J and Nelson G.

LUCKY TEETER (Earl Teter) died 7/5/1942 at the Indianapolis State Fair ~ the Aerial Rocket Car Leap - Hell Drivers special. His widow sold his show to Joey Chitwood.

Earl "Lucky" Teter (Earl M Teter) aka Teeter. Born: about 1902, Noblesville IN; Died: July 5, 1942, Indianapolis IN.

"Lucky" Teter was a race driver of cars and motorcycles. He earned fame as a stunt driver of "Lucky Teter's Hell Drivers" in the 1930s. He died doing a stunt in the Aerial Rocket Car Leap in the closing event of four performances on 7/5/1942 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, Indianapolis, IN. The car (?Plymouth) he tried to jump over trucks fell short, when the bed of a truck hit his windshield. Teter's auto did not get the speed needed in order to clear the truck. His widow sold his show later. Teter was performing a military benefit performance and had requested commission in the Army motor division of the quartermaster's corp (Transportation Corps). The American military gave him full honors at his funeral at Noblesville IN on July 7th, 1942. The stunt show in which "Lucky" died was the last until after WW II. Teter was said to be about 39 years old (the 1910 census lists him at age 8). Earl was survived by his widow, his parents, Arza W Teter (witnessed accident) and Alla, and his sister, Ruth, all of Noblesville, IN. The Teter (Dieter) family was of German origins. A newspaper article was in The Kokomo Tribune (Kokomo, IN) 7/7/1942.
