NOTE: Articles that dispute the ancestry of Deacon John Dunham (See No 11) are:
1. "The Fraudulent Ancestry of Deacon John Dunham of Plymouth", Paul C. Reed,TAG 73 (1998):101--104. This article discusses the alleged connection to a fictitious Dunham family of Scrooby, Co. Nottingham, England.
2. "The English Origin and First Marriage of Deacon John Dunham of Plymouth, Massachusetts", Robert Leigh Ward,TAG 71 (1996):130-33. This article announced the discovery of Bedfordshire Parish Registers containing entries for the marriage of John Dunham and Susan Kaino, with records which support John Dunhams's father to be Richard Dunham of Langford.
There is a John Dunham recorded in Leyden records, as a distinct and prominent member of the Leyden congregation who emigrated to America between 1628-1632. Data regarding John Dunham's English origins was published in The American Genealogist, 71:130-133. He was from Clophill and Henlow, Bedford, England. He may have ties with the Mayflower Tilley and Cooper families, also from Henlow, Bedford.
