BERTHA BLAKER, 66, of 208 Grand Avenue, Newfield NY died Thurs, 8/26/1993 at Tompkins Community Hospital. She was born Ithaca NY, daughter of the late Andrew J and Gertrude B Cornell White. Bertha was widow of Frank Blaker who died in 1990. She had retired as Exec. Secretary from Cornell University (employed 35 years). She was member of: Cornell Recreation Club, Tompkins County CB Club, AARP, Newfield United Methodist Church, Senior Citizens, and had been a den mother many years for Danby Cub Scouts Pack #49. HERBERT KENNETH TEETER, 75, of 297 Bundy Hill Road, Ithaca NY, died Fri, 12/10/1993 in Tompkins Community Hospital. He was born Newfield NY, son of the late Anna Louise White and William Hymes Teeter. He was an US Army veteran of WW II and retired carpenter and member of Carpenter's Local #603 over 20 years. Herbert is survived by his wife, Rose B Teeter; daughter in law, Kathy Teeter; grandchildren, Tabitha and Dallas W Teeter (all of Ithaca); brothers: Richard and Amandus Teeter (Ithaca NY), Donald and Franklin Teeter (FL), and John Teeter (NJ), and sisters: Anna Sladish, Mable Rundle (Ithaca), Myrtle Tafaoa (NC), Florence (Germantown NY), and Mary Seifert (FL); and several nieces, nephews and one aunt (Marjorie McGuire, who later died 1994). ERNEST FRANCIS TERWILLIGER, of Newfield NY, 1154 Trumbulls Corners, Rd, resident of Newfield 46 years, died August 1995. Born 7/3/1924, Sempronius NY, son of the late Clarence and Beatrice Howell Terwilliger. Earnest married Mary J. Baker in 1948. Earnest was predeceased by his parents, three sisters, and a brother. Fran Twig was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked 27 yrs for Cornell Univ in the Life Safety division until retirement 1987. He also worked for the Airport Limosine 25 years. He was member of NCHA, Top of the Hill, The 39ers, and the Skylark camping clubs, and field director of last two. He was past Cub Scout Master and Kiwanis Coach. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Betty Terwilliger (Newfield), Bruce and Sharon Terwilliger (Liverpool NY), brothers, Earl Terwilliger (Newfield), Clarence Terwilliger (Rochester NY), and Walter Terwilliger (W Monroe NY), and sisters, Leah Wehr, Gerri Bruce and Shirley King (Syracuse NY), and grandchildren, Tim, James, Christina, Kari, Serena, and Kelli, and stepchildren, Brian, Nicole, and Brittany; close family friend and husband; Lindy and Scott Bullock (Waterville NY), and several nieces and nephews. LT COL JACK MAHLON TEETER, Lakeland FL, 74, died Sat 3/28/1998. Jack was born Sewanne TN, Oct 17, 1923. A valedictorian, Newfield NY, Jack joined the Army Air Corps age 20; and was veteran of 3 wars. He majored in Computer Science, Univ of MD. He was a computer enthusiast and avid golfer. Jack is survived by his wife (over 50 years), Eleanor C Teeter; sons, Jack M Teeter Jr (Lexington KY), and Ronald A Teeter (Tupelo MS); and daughter, Diana J Ahlm (Farmington NM); brothers, Thomas Lynne Teeter (Sun City FL), and Lynn Hovey (Fredericksburg VA); sisters, Beatrice Cosentin and Dora Johnson, (both of Venice FL), Luceila Miller, (Orlando FL), and Virginia Robinson (Utica NY); and 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren. WILLIAM K SNOW, 84, of 456 Midline Road Freeville NY died Weds 4/1/1998, Yuma Regional Medical Center, Yuma AZ, while visiting his daughter. Mr. Snow was born Feb 24, 1914 Slaterville NY, son of the late Carl and Catherine (Miller) Snow. He married July 4, 1938 Julia A Strait who survives him. Mr. Snow was dairy farmer; life resident of Tompkins County NY. He was member of the Dairyman's League Association, the Slaterville Vol. Fire Co., and an avid sportsman. JOHN PHILLIP TEETER, 57, of Burlington Township, NJ, died 9/27/1998. He was one of 17 children of William Hymes and Anna Louise White Teeter, of Ithaca NY. He was resident of Ithaca NY many years, graduating from IHS 1958. John was past member of the First Presbyterian Church where he and wife, Marilyn, nee Johnson, married 1960. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era. John was an electrician and member of the First Presbyterian Church in Delanco NJ and had served on the Bldgs & Grnds Committee and Worship Committee. Husband of Marilyn, formely of Elmira NY; father of Sherry and her husband, Lawrence Monahan (Raleigh NC), Susan and husband Dennis Cunningham (Raleigh NC), grandfather of Alexander Cunningham and Tiffany Cunningham; brother of Richard Teeter (Newfield NY), Donald Teeter (Travelers Rest SC), Amandus Teeter (Ithaca NY), Franklin Teeter (Deltona FL), Anna Sladish (Ithaca NY), Myrtle Tafaoa (Jacksonville NC), Mabel Rundle (Ithaca NY), Florence LaPorte (Germantown NY), and Mary Seifert of FL. WILLIAM HENRY LITTLE, 72, of Jacksonville NC, retired CWO-2, US Marine Corps, died 10/25/1998, at home. William served in WW II, Korea, Dominican Republic, and Vietnam. OAKLEY D TEETER, 79, of 587 Peruville Rd, Groton NY (Tompkins Co), died Weds am, 9/22/1999, at home. Oakley was born April 3, 1920 Newfield NY, son of the late Maynard L (1884-1965) and Stella R Dennis Teeter (1882-1957). Mr. Teeter had been employed as polisher for Ithaca Gun Company (Ithaca) and previously at GE (Ithaca), and Cargill Salt Company (Lansing NY). Oakley served in US Army WWII, receiving honorable discharge 11/10/1945. Mr. Teeter was also member of the American Legion Post #800, Carrington-Fuller Lodge (Groton); VFW of Ithaca Post #961; and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #666. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing; also enjoyed dancing. Oakley is survived by his wife, Mable (Bachelor); sons, Terry (Eliz) (Lansing NY), and Oakley D Jr (Cindy) (Candor NY); daughters, Betty Jane Buck (Newfield NY), and Constance (Steve) Doane (Ft Pierce FL); and brother, Carl (Thelma) (Groton NY); 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; and special friends, David and Sandy Osgood of Ithaca NY. RUTH SHROEDER TEETER, 83, of 738 Black Oak Road, Newfield NY Tompkins Co, died 3/26/2000, at home. Ruth was daughter of the late George Albert and Grace Jenks Schroeder. Ruth had worked as bookkeeper, over 40 years at Cayuga Crushed Stone. She was a graduate of Cornell Univ and R.B.I. ALICE C TEETER, 77, of 44 Teeter Road, died Fri 5/26/2000, at Hospicare Residence. Alice was born April 14, 1923 Enfield NY, daughter of the late Leroy P and Edith C Lindow Whitaker; and wife of the late Richard B Teeter (1994). Member of Women of the Moose Lodge #594, she had been employed with Cornell Laundry and Colonial Cleaners prior retirement. Mrs. Teeter was area resident most of her life; she had been employed at Vesta Corset Co., Crescent Corset Co., and WT Grant Dept Store. She was member of the Homer Ave Methodist Church, the Willing Workers and the African Violet Society. She was predeceased by her husband (Glenn Wm Teeter who died in 1988). A C STRAHAN, 79, of Oakdale Louisianna, died Fri 11/3/2000, at home. He was a native of Oberlin, and 25 year member Emmanuel Baptist Church where he served as a brotherhood leader and an active choir member. He was a veteran of the US Air Force with 22 years service. He served during WW II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was a Little League coach and umpire in New York and Oakdale. He was employed by Allen Parish School Board 17 years. He was self-employed carpenter, retiring from Ithaca College 6/1987. Ellen was Peninsula resident for the last four years; and had lived in OR, CA, IN, NY, and TN during her lifetime. Ellen was head cook and dietician for the Senior Citizens Home in Eaton NY (Madison County). She had worked for the Home Dairy in Ithaca NY when younger. She was predeceased by spouses, Harvey Gordon Teeter 3/23/1915-1/20/1993 NY; and Roger Eugene Cook 11/17/1909-6/23/1975 NY. Roger was s/o Susan Culver Cook Drake. Ellen was an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles, in addition to being a devoted gardener who cooked and baked many old-fashioned fixings. H GENE HEIM, 79, of Kellogg Road, Cortland NY died 4/11/2004 at Cortland Memorial Hospital. Mr. Heim was born Feb 3, 1925 Moravia NY, son of the late Hugo and Eugenia Anstept Heim. He was longtime resident of Cortland; graduating from St. Mary's School. He also served with the US Army in WW II. He was employed by Brockway Motors over 30 years, retiring 1976. BETSY J WARNER, 87, of 200 West South St., Groton, NY died Sat 6/12/2004, at home. She was born Oct 17, 1916 in Groton, daughter of the late Henry and Cora (Markle) Davenport, life area resident and widow of Orrin Warner (1980) and Charles "Roy" Huntley (1988). Betsy had worked at IBM in Endicott NY, Smith Corona in Groton and Sage Infirmary, Cornell University. During WW II she worked at Eclipse Manufacturing Co. LEE EDWARD TEETER, 82, of Newfield NY, died at home 8/21/2004. He was born April 11, 1922, Montour Falls NY, son of the late Warren Gulliver Teeter and Lena Bush Teeter. Lee was raised in Newfield NY, alumnus of Newfield Central School. He was member of the 21st Engineers Aviation 3rd Battalion and a WW II Veteran. He was lifetime member of Carpenter's Union Local 603. Lee is survived by his wife, Marie Winters Teeter. Lee and Marie celebrated their 60th Anniversary Aug 19, 2004. BARBARA J McINTYRE, of Shaffer Road, Newfield NY, died Fri 10/29/2004, at the home of her daughter (Machias NY). Barbara was born Dec 23, 1921, Enfield NY, daughter of Leon and Margaret Teeter Laughlin. Barbara married Ray McIntyre 6/30/1951 who died 8/13/1987. Mrs. McIntyre graduated form IHS and Cortland State Teachers School where she earned her Bachelors in Elementary Education. She prepared for her Masters at Cornell University. Mrs. McIntyre began teaching in a one-room schoolhouse in Ithaca, Hayts School and at Newfield Central School. In 1953 she left full time teaching to raise her family, substituting until 1973. Mrs. McIntyre was a member of Enfield Baptist Church, Newfield Library Association, Newfield Recreation Committee, Ladies Monday Club and the Methodist Church Sunshine Club. She was past member of Newfield Board of Education, Home Bureau, 4-H Leader and Mystic Chapter Order of Eastern Star. Survivors: son, Wayne (Nancy) McIntyre (Wayland NY); daughter, Elaine (Bernard) Perry of Machias; seven grandchildren, (Carolyn, Matthew (Jessica) and Patrick O'Conner, Lynne and Lee McIntyre, Curtis and Miles Perry); and four great-grandchildren. ALTON RUSSELL TEETER, 75, of Matthews Circle, Horseheads NY, recently residing with his son in Greenville, SC, died Mon 5/30/2005. He was born April 18th, 1930 on his family's farm, Lansing NY. He was employed by Chemung County Highway Department as foreman, retired after many years. Alton was lifelong military man. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps, age 15. He served during WW II and the Korean War intermittently between the Marine Corps, Army, and lastly the US Navy Reserves, retiring 1991. LILLIAN P TEETER of NEWFIELD NY, 76, died 2/21/2006 in Ocala FL. She and her husband had been vacationing in Salt Springs FL. Lillian was born Nov 14, 1929 Newfield NY, daughter of the late John and Aili Pakkala. She graduated from Newfield High School (1947), and married Henry (Hank) Teeter 5/1/1948, union of almost 58 years. Lillian had worked at The Home Dairy, as GLF switchboard operator, and as NCS lunchroom monitor. She was a former Girl Scout Leader and member of Home Bureau, and active in Newfield Seniors. Lillian enjoyed music, dancing, camping, nature walks, animals, picking wild strawberries, visiting friends and caring for family. She is survived by her husband, Hank Teeter; daughter, Nancy (Richard) Mazourek; and son, James H. (Kathleen) Teeter. CHARLOTTE "TOOTS" TERWILLIGER, 73, of Richford NY, died 8/15/2006. Born, May 24, 1933 Sayre PA, she was daughter of the late Lester B and Bertha M (Dunkley) Teeter. She was predeceased by her husband, Clayton Teeter, 9/2/1956; and granddaughter, Tammy Wolfe, born 9/17/1965; and her grandson, Scott Parker; and special grandson, Mark Wandall. Richard was owner, operator, and founder of "Teets and Sons" scrap metal business in Newfield. He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the US Army. Mrs. Renzetti was longtime employee of the Tompkins Co Trust Co, where she retired head of bookkeeping. She also worked in banking in Houston TX, after retirement. MILDRED C HIMMANEN, 91, of Newfield NY, died 3/24/2008 at Cayuga Medical Center, Ithaca NY (born 3/22/1917); d/o Lena Bush SanSoucie Teeter and Warren G Teeter. She grew up in Newfield with siblings: Clara, Lee, Henry, Roy, Elsie, Lawrence. Mildred married Leo O Himmanen. They built their home in Newfield; had a nice garden and liked fishing. She was an accomplished seamstress. They enjoyed cross country travels in their camper until Leo passed away in 1980. Mildred was on her own at home and about town in her car. She was heart of a large circle of family and friends. Mildred is survived by brothers, Henry Teeter (Newfield NY) and Roy Teeter (Naples FL); sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. JAMES TEETER, 88, of Enfield NY died 4/16/2008, (Troy Community Hospital). Jim was born 9/3/1919 Ithaca NY to Arthur and Lena Brown Teeter. He spent his life on the family farm, working with his father and in recent years, with his son. A graduate of IHS 1936, he was active in 4-H, Farm Bureau, the Dairyman's League, and the Tompkins County Soil and Water Conservation District. He was member of the Kennedy's Corners Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent many years, subsequently attending the First Baptist Church of Trumansburg. For several years he drove bus for the Ithaca City School District. He was active on the farm until recently, enjoying working in the woods and the fields, raising cattle, and tinkering with farm machinery. Extending beyond family to community, Jim made blood donations as age eligible. Jim loved to square dance, and was a member of the Square-A-Naders in younger years. He was predeceased by his wife, M. Lucille Wagemaker Teeter in 1964 plus an infant son and daughter. Jim was father of Alice (John) Linton, Alan (Debbie Lloyd) Teeter and Joyce (Bill Andrew) VandeBogart, by whom he is survived as well as grandchildren, Brandon, Heather and Amy Linton, Alexander and Abigail Teeter and Samantha VandeBogart; sister, Catherine Teeter Kellogg; sister-in-law, Grace Wagemaker Kent; and his companion Frances Andrew; nine nieces and nephews. PAUL W PORTER, formerly of Ithaca NY, died Mon 4/28/2008 in Florida where he and wife Anne lived the past 13 years. He was born 1/8/1932 to the late Alice Handlen Porter and William G Porter. He was resident of Ithaca over 60 years. Paul graduated from IHS 1950, attended Cascadilla School, and served in the US Army, 6/1952-7/1954. He was lifelong member of the Ithaca BPOE Elks. Paul was a local mechanic who worked with his father at Porter's Atlantic, then later at Porter's Exxon which he owned after the death of his father. Paul wed Anne McCully 9/25/1954; (married 53 years); and have children: Jill (David) Cain (Charlottesville VA), Janet (David) Teeter (Newfield NY) and James (Lori) Porter (Cortland NY). Paul has 7 grandchildren, Deanna Cain of VA, Derek Cain of MD, Stephanie, Melanie and Robert Teeter of Newfield, Matthew and Julia Porter of Cortland. HAROLD L TEETER, 81, of 55 E Main Street, Trumansburg, died Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester NY, 6/23/2008, the son Harold and Ruth Roe Teeter. Harry was born at home 5/18/1927 ~ and, he's been singing ever since. He sang and played drums in several local combos also calling square dances around the T-Burg area, in his teens. At almost any gathering if a hat was dropped, he started singing, and you would hear anything from "Sentimental Journey" to "Hey Good Lookin" to "Satisfaction". He graduated high school 1945; his mother received his diploma for him because he had enlisted in the Navy where he served aboard the USS Tarawa until the end of WW II. After discharge he returned to the states and married 4/5/1947, Freda Frost, an union of 61 years. Following a couple of years at Ithaca College, Harry was a local business owner. Harry was member of the Trumansburg Senior Citizens, Trumansburg American Legion Post 770, the Moose, Elks and VFW, both here and in Florida. Heartfelt appreciation to Barb and Joe Lockwood. Harry is survived by his wife, Freda of Clare Bridge (Ithaca); sons, Michael Teeter (Deborah Nottke) of Trumansburg, and Scott Teeter (Rockwood TN); grandchildren, Jessica Teeter (Sarasota FL), Billi Jo Starr (Santa Barbara CA), Kym (Eric) Jackson (Lansing NY), Stevey MacCheyne (Brooklyn NY), Vanessa Willard (Trumansburg NY), Ben Willard (Boynton Beach FL), and Mike Willard of Trumansburg. He is also survived by sisters, Helen (Keith) VanDerzee (Trumansburg NY), and Margaret Fait (Great Barrington VT); and brothers, Donald (Velma) Teeter (Ithaca, NY), and Philip Teeter (Lusa MD). In addition to his parents, Harry was predeceased by a brother, Richard Teeter and a sister, Harriet Gunning. MR. TEETER died December 5th 1905 - Newfield NY undertaker's book. This appears to be George Teeter b June 1822 who married Caroline Grover and had Frank Teeter 1853-1908 (NY) who married Angeline Doll 1864 PA - 1943 NY and had William H Teeter. Angeline buried Sebring Cem. SYRACUSE HERALD-JOURNAL NEWSPAPER: Apr 15, 1976: Mrs. ANNA L TEETER, 77, of 1036 W Seneca St, Ithaca NY died Tuesday at Tompkins County Hospital. She was born in Enfield Falls, the daughter of Charles William WHITE and Elizabeth...predeceased by husband, WILLIAM H TEETER in 1965....buried Hayts Cem, Ithaca NY with her husband.
