Homepage for R. Teesdale - 1st Royal Scots

My 4th Great Grandfather, Robert Teesdale was a soldier in the 1st Royal Scots (First Regiment of Foot).

He served at the Battles of Badajoz, Salamanca, Vittoria - for which he was awarded the Military General Service Medal.

He also served at the Battle of Waterloo - for which he was awarded the Waterloo Medal.

It was Robert and Elisabeth's son, William Teesdale who would come to the United States and continue my Teesdale line in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

William Teesdale served in the 68th Pennsylvania Infantry (Company C) and after being in the battles of Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, and in Burnsides Mud March, William died at the Battle of Gettysburg where he was shot three times in the Peach Orchard.

I hope that one day our family will be able to locate these two medals that were awarded to Robert Teesdale.

Records indicate some sale activity in London in 1963 or 1967, another auction is pending in March 2005. I know that I currently do not have the funds to bid on this 2005 auction - my sincere hope is that whoever is successful at the auction on this medal will find this website, and contact me so that we may discuss the destination of the medal.

Sincerely, Don Teesdale
