The Perry family which would merge with our branch of the Van Overs emigrated from Scotland, arriving in New York on 9 July, 1855 aboard the “Constellation” out of Liverpool, England. William Perry was a blacksmith. Along with his wife, Elizabeth (Beck), and 5 children, Agnes, James, Elizabeth, William and Isabel, he settled in Peoria, IL. There their other two children were born, Andrew and Mary. (They also had two children, another Andrew and Mary, who died before their emigration.
This is where their daughter Elizabeth would meet and marry Henry Van Over.
