Nellie was the first of the Teaster family to marry into the Hicks family.  Marriage between these families became common. Nellie married Cutliff Harmon Hicks, the son of  Samuel Hicks (1) about 1820 . The Hicks family had been among the first European settlers of what is now Watauga County, NC. Nellie and Cutliff's children are :

Fanny HIX was born about 1825.
Fanny married  her first cousin, Ransom (1) TEASTER, on October 27, 1841. Ransom was the son of Nellie's brother Samuel (2)   .

Elizabeth (Betsy) HICKS was born about 1827.
Elizabeth also married her cousin, David (4) Hicks around 1842. David was the grandson of Samuel  Hicks (1)
