The information below presents the ancestry of Johann Franz "Frank" Uthe (1818-1885), my great-great-grandfather, who was born in Heyerode, Mühlhausen, Germany, son of Jakob and Anna Margaretha (Böhm) Uthe. Frank Uthe came to America circa 1857 with his wife Barbara née Kieler (1836-1917) and settled at Dickeyville, Wisconsin. The information about Frank Uthe's ancestors was provided by Dr. Andreas Stützer, of Aachen, Germany, who through research on the internet found my own information about the Kielers and Uthes and made the connection with people from his own database, which he kindly shared via e-mail on March 18, 2007. Note. Frank Uthe hailed from Heyerode, Thüringen, in Deutschland [Germany], where his parents and grandparents were all born and died. While Heyerode is located in the present-day state of Thuringia in Germany, during the 19th century it was not located within the boundaries of the Thüringen states but was part of Mühlhausen and the Kingdom of Saxony, in an area which itself became part of Prussia. Heyerode fell within the boundaries of East Germany in the post-World War II era.
