Gertrude Gerken (1878-1951), daughter of Francis Xavier and Gertrude (Hinners) Gerken, was a second cousin to my grandfather, Ewald Gerken. Her father Xavier Gerken and my great-grandfather Henry Gerken were first cousins, and both lived at New Vienna, Iowa. In 1901 Gertrude married Bernard Boge (1869-1963), son of Bernard and Christina (Lansing) Boge, and they lived at New Vienna, Iowa, and Cassville, Wisconsin.   T.L.

Gertrude Gerken was born on March 17, 1878, at Dyersville, Iowa, daughter of Francis Xavier, who was called "Xavier," and Gertrude (Hinners) Gerken. She was their firstborn child. The Gerken family moved to South Dakota when she was about one year old, and they lived at Parker, South Dakota, in Turner County. The Gerken family returned to Iowa, to New Vienna, circa 1890, when Gertrude was about twelve years old.

Gertrude Gerken married Bernard John Boge on February 12, 1901 (undoubtedly at St. Boniface Church in New Vienna, Iowa). Bernard Boge, who was called "Barney," was born in 1869, son of Bernard and Christina (Lansing) Boge.

Barney and Gertude Boge had nine children: Alfred Boge, Cyril Boge, Clarissa Boge, Raymond Boge, Hilarius "Larry" Boge, Norbert Boge; Laurence Boge; Arthur "Isaac" Boge, and Eugene Boge.

Until at least 1914, the Boge family lived at New Vienna, Iowa, where most of their children were born; by 1920 they were living at Bankston, Iowa, where the last child Eugene was born; and circa 1934 the Boge family settled at Cassville, Wisconsin. At Cassville, Barney and Gertrude were members of St. Charles Church, and Gertrude was a member of the church's Rosary Society.

Gertrude (Gerken) Boge dies.
Gertrude Boge, 73, of Cassville, Wisconsin, died on Tuesday, October 23, 1951, at a hospital in Lancaster, Wisconsin. Services were at 9 a.m., Friday, October 26, from the Eckstein Funeral Home to St. Charles Church in Cassville. Burial was in the St. Boniface Church cemetery at New Vienna, Iowa.

Mrs. Boge was survived by her husband, Bernard; eight sons, Al Boge, Cyril Boge, and Larry Boge, of Dubuque, Ia., Ray Boge, of Neilsville, Wis., Norbert Boge, of Ionia, Ia., Laurence Boge and Eugene Boge, of Charles City, Ia., and Arthur Boge, of Stone City, Ia.; a daughter, Clarissa, Mrs. Peter Meyers, of Luxemburg, Ia.; 29 grandchildren; two brothers, John Gerken and Frank Gerken, of Arcadia, Iowa; and a sister, Mrs. Joe Schroeder of Ardway [Ordway?], Colo.

By 1956, Gertrude's widower, Barney Boge, had moved to Charles City, Iowa, where he had three sons living in the area..

Bernard Boge dies.
Bernard "Barney" Boge, 94, of Charles City, Iowa, died Wednesday morning, December 4, 1963, at Charles City. Family and friends called after 7 p.m., Thursday, December 5, at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 7, at Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City. Burial was in St. Boniface Cemetery in New Vienna, Iowa.

Mr. Boge was survived by a daughter, Mrs. Peter A. (Clarissa) Meyers, of Luxemburg, Ia.; eight sons, Alfred Boge, of Sageville, Ia., Cyril Boge, of Key West, Ia., Raymond Boge, of Marshfield, Wis., Larry Boge, of Spencer, Wis., Norbert Boge, of Ionia, Ia., Laurence Boge and Gene Boge, both of Charles City, Ia., and Arthur Boge, of Stone City, Ia.; 46 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.


Children of Bernard and Gertrude (Gerken) Boge:

  1. Alfred B. Boge was born on July 26, 1902, in New Vienna, Iowa, son of Bernard and Gertrude (Gerken) Boge. Alfred Boge worked at Hendricks Feed Company and later was a school bus driver for Sageville Community School for 15 years. He lived at Sageville, Iowa.

    Alfred B. "Al" Boge, 85, of Bethany Home in Dubuque, Iowa, died at 6:10 a.m., Monday, June 13, 1988, at Mercy Health Center, St. Joseph's Unit, in Dubuque. Family and friends called until 9 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, at Behr Funeral Home in Dubuque. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 15, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna, Iowa, with the Rev. Wilfred Johannes officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Arnie, Barney, Gordie, Jerry, Kenny and Roger Boge.
          Mr. Boge was survived by a sister, Mrs. Clarissa "Tootsie" Meyers, of Luxemburg, Ia., and six brothers, Cyril Boge, of Dubuque, Ia., Raymond Boge, of Marshfield, Wis., Larry Boge, of Oostburg, Wis., Norbert Boge, of Ionia, Ia., Lawrence Boge, of Colwell, Ia., and Eugene Boge, of Charles City, Ia.

  2. Francis Xavier Cyril Boge was born on October 7, 1903, in New Vienna, Iowa, son of Bernard and Gertrude (Gerken) Boge. Francis Xavier Cyril Boge, who was referred to by his third given name and called "Cy," married Isabelle B. Hanten on May 17, 1932, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Key West, Iowa, and she would reside in the community all of her life. Isabelle Hanten was born on January 3, 1912, daughter of John Gregor and Gertrude Magdalena (Loes) Hanten. Cy and Isabella Boge had nine children: Daniel Delbert Boge, Zola Darlene Boge, Loras Gregory Boge, Joanne Mary Boge, Samantha Doris Boge, Geraldine Boge, Deborah Joan Boge, Patricia Ann Boge, and Steven Paul Boge.
          Cy Boge farmed and was a businessman in the Key West area for many years prior to his retirement. He was associated with several senior citizens groups.

    Mrs. Cyril F. (Isabelle) Boge, 49, of near Key West, Iowa, died at 11:30 a.m, Thursday, July 20, 1961, at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa, after a three-month illness. Family and friends called at the Hoffman Mortuary in Dubuque, where the members of St. Joseph Parish and the Rosary Society recited the Rosary at 8 p.m., Friday, July 21. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 22, at St. Joseph Church in Key West, with the Rev. John Sims officiating at the Requiem High Mass. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery at Key West.
          Mrs. Boge was survived by her husband, Cyril; five daughters, Darlene Boge, Joanne Boge, Doris Boge, Geraldine Boge, and Deborah Boge, all at home; three sons, Daniel Boge and Loras Boge, both of Key West, Ia., and Steven Boge, at home; four grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Gertrude Hanten, of Key West, Ia.; one sister, Mrs. Lawrence (Cecelia) Muenster, of Dubuque, Ia.; and two brothers, Leo Hanten and Francis Hanten, both of Key West, Iowa.

    Cyril F. "Cy" Boge, 90, of Jackson Street in Dubuque, Iowa, and formerly of Key West, Iowa, died at 4:21 p.m., Thursday, January 6, 1994, at The Finley Hospital in Dubuque. Family and friends called from 3 to 8 p.m., Sunday, January 9, at Ed Siegert-Al Didesch Funeral Home in Dubuque, where there was a parish wake service at 7 p.m. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 10, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Key West, and burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery at Key West.
          Mr. Boge was survived by three sons, Daniel (and Millie) Boge, Loras Boge, and Steven (and Renee) Boge, all of Dubuque, Ia.; five daughters, Mrs. Tom (Darlene) Hantelmann and Mrs. John (Gerri) Vesely, both of Dubuque, Ia., Mrs. Lee (Joanne) Haywood, of Louisburg, Wis., Samantha-Doris Cummings, of Tallahassee, Fla., and Deborah Williams, of Dallas; 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Clarissa Meyers, of Luxemburg, Ia.; three brothers, Norbert Boge and Gene Boge, both of Charles City, Ia., and Ray Boge, of Marshfield, Wis.; and a close friend, Margaret Horner, of Dubuque, Ia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Isabelle; a daughter, Patricia; and four brothers, Al Boge, Arthur Boge, Lawrence Boge, and Larry Boge.

    • Daniel Delbert Boge was born son of Cyril and Isabelle (Hanten) Boge. Daniel Boge married Donna Rae Strong, daughter of Percy and Mabel (Canter) Strong, on June 8, 1957, at St. Mary's Church in Dubuque, Iowa. Daniel and Donna Boge had five children: Diane Karen Boge, Cynthia Lou Boge, Kim Susan Boge, Joan Marie Boge, and Amy Jo Boge. Daniel and Donna Boge divorced in 1971.
            Daniel Boge married Mildred F. "Millie" (Atkinson) Ries on May 3, 1975, at Rockford, Illinois.

    • Zola Darlene Boge was born daughter of Cyril and Isabelle (Hanten) Boge. Zola Darlene Boge, who was called by her middle name, "Darlene," married Thomas Harry Hantelmann on September 2, 1963, at St Joseph Catholic Church in Key West, Iowa. Thomas Hantelmann was born on November 7, 1936, son of Emil and Magdaline (Cox) Hantelmann. Tom and Darlene Hantelmann had two children: Julie Ann Hantelmann and Joan Marie Hantelmann. They lived at Dubuque, Iowa, where they were members of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
            Tom Hantelmann graduated from St. Columbkille's High School and the Culinary Institute of America. He served for nearly six years in the Army National Guard. He was a food management instructor at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College for 21 years, from which he retired in 1993. He sang in the Dubuque Men's Choir, St. Anthony's Choir, and the Dubuque Barbershop Chorus. He had a true love of cooking, teaching, golfing, and fishing. Tom was a life member of the Dubuque Jaycees and served as its vice president, and he also served as president and district deputy director of the Dubuque Evening Lions Club. He was an honorary life member of the Protective Order of Elks and served as its exalted ruler, and he served as president of the Tri-State German Club. Tom was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.

      Thomas H. Hantelmann, 67, of Dubuque, Iowa, died Saturday, March 20, 2004, at home. Family and friends called from 3 to 6 p.m., Monday, March 22, at Siegert-Casper Colonial Funeral Home in Dubuque, where there was an Elks memorial service at 7:15 p.m. and a wake service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 23, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Dubuque. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery at Key West, Iowa.
            Mr. Hantelmann was survived by his wife, Darlene; two daughters, Julie A. Hantlemann, of Chicago, Ill., and Joan A. (Peter) Timmerman, of Flower Mound, Texas; two grandsons, Adam and Luke Timmerman; two brothers, Robert Hantelmann and Richard (Kathy) Hantelmann, both of Dubuque, Ia.; and a sister, Donna Jean (Cliff) VanZile, of Scottsdale, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters-in-law, Beverly and Helen Hantelmann.

    • Loras Gregory Boge was born son of Cyril and Isabelle (Hanten) Boge. Loras Boge married Judith Ann Roscamp on November 22, 1958, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Key West, Iowa. Judith Roscamp was born daughter of Joseph and Mildred (Gatena) Roscamp. Loras and Judith Boge had eight children: Leslie Allen Boge, Jeanettte Catherine Boge, William Roger Boge, Robert Eugene Boge, James Joseph Boge, Mary Catherine Boge, Eric Joseph Boge, and Alyssia Marie Boge. Loras and Judy Boge were divorced in 1989.

      • Alyssia Marie Boge was born October 24, 1969, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Loras and Judith (Roscamp) Boge.

        Alyssia M. Boge died at 8 p.m., Thursday, September 30, 1971*, less than a month shy of her second birthday, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa. Family and friends called from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, October 1, at the Hoffman Mortuary in Dubuque. A Mass of the Angels was said at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, October 2, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Key West, Iowa. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Key West.

              Alyssia was survived by her parents; three sisters, Jeanette, Barbara, and Mary Kay, all at home; five brothers, Leslie, William, Robert, James, and Eric, all at home; her paternal grandfather, Cyril Boge, of rural La Motte, Ia.; and her maternal grandparents, Joseph and Mildred Roscamp, of Dubuque, Ia.

    • Joanne Mary Boge was born daughter of Cyril and Isabelle (Hanten) Boge. Joanne Boge married E. Lee Haywood on July 24, 1976, in Ashland, Kentucky, by Owen Miller, Minister of the Church of God. Lee Haywood was born on September 22, 1926, in Lacky, Kentucky, son of Darby Lee and Alline P. (Simer) Haywood.
            Lee was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a paratrooper in Italy. He worked for Brownberry Ovens as an over-the-road semi-tractor trailer driver. He played guitar and was known as the Kentucky Rambler, and at one time he had his own country and western band. Lee loved fishing, camping, and being with children.

      E. Lee Haywood, 70, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died at 5:40 p.m., Wednesday, March 12, 1997, at The Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa. Memorial services were at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 15, at Behr Funeral Home in Dubuque, where family and friends called after 10 a.m. Lee donated his body to the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison, Wisconsin.
            Mr. Haywood was survived by his wife, Joanne; four daughters, Connie L. Haywood, of Columbus, Ohio, Peggy A. (Vern) Archambeault, of Rathum, Idaho, Deana D. Cunningham, of Delaware, Ohio, and Bobbie L. (Dave) Eisnnicher, of Westerville, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; a sister, Judy (Bill) Stevens, of Russell, Ky; and several nieces and nephews.

    • Samantha Doris Boge was born daughter of Cyril and Isabelle (Hanten) Boge. Samantha Boge married F. Alan Cummings on December 20, 1977, at Tallahassee, Florida. Alan and Samantha Cummings had three children: Christian Gordon Cummings, Sara Elsie Cummings, and Alice Kate Griffith Cummings. Alan and Samantha Cummings were divorced in 1993.
            Samantha (Boge) Cummings married Charles William Dodson on May 24, 2001, at Tallahassee, Florida. Charles Dodson was born son of Loyce Joe and Lola (Noland) Dodson. Charles Dodson brought three children into their marriage: Clayton Joe Dodson, Jacob Noland Dodson, and Blair Charles Dodson.

    • Geraldine Boge was born daughter of Cyril and Isabelle (Hanten) Boge. Gerladine Boge, who was called "Gerri,"" married John Edward Vesely on December 23, 1972, at Key West, Iowa. John Vesely was born son of Edward John and Coleen Jean Vesely. John and Gerri Vesely had three children: Benjamin Edward Vesely, Craig Michael Vesely, and Beau Christopher Vesely.

    • Deborah Joan Boge was born daughter of Cyril and Isabelle (Hanten) Boge. Deborah Boge married B. Lynn Williams on December 22, 1984, at Corsicana, Texas. Lynn Williams was born son of Henry and Faye Williams. Lynn and Deborah Williams were divorced in 1990.
            Deborah Boge married David Dunken Husted on June 24, 1995, on the cruise ship Sovereign of the Seas.

    • Patricia Madonna Boge was born December 8, 1954*, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Cyril and Isabelle (Hanten) Boge.

      Patricia Madonna "Patty" Boge, 2, of Key West, Iowa, died Thursday, November 15, 1956, at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa, of injuries she received when she was hit by a car the previous evening. Family and friends called after 2 p.m., Friday, November 16, at the Hoffman Mortuary in Dubuque, from where services were held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, November 17, to St. Joseph's Church in Key West. A Mass of the Angels was offered by the Rev. Carl E. Kurt, who preached the sermon and officiated at the burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Four girl friends of the deceased acted as an honorary escort.
            Patty was survived by her parents, Cyril and Isabelle Boge; five sisters, Darlene, Joanne, Doris, Geraldine, and Deborah, all at home; and two brothers, Daniel and Loras, both at home; and her grandparents, Bernard Boge, of Charles City, Ia., and Mrs. Gregory Hanten, of Key West, Ia.

    • Steven Paul Boge was born son of Cyril and Isabelle (Hanten) Boge. Steven Boge married Renee Helen Belanger on July 6, 1985, at Holy Name Church in Springfield, Massachusetts. Renee Belanger was born daughter of Real H. Belanger and Theresa (Morisette) Belanger. Steven and Renee Boge had two children: Cole Joseph Boge and Katrina Magdalene Boge.

  3. Clarissa Christina Boge was born on August 21, 1905, in New Vienna, Iowa, daughter of Bernard and Gertrude (Gerken) Boge. Clarissa Boge married Peter A. Meyers on January 6, 1931, in North Buena Vista, Iowa. Peter Meyers was born on November 13, 1900. Clarissa was a homemaker and a great Gram-Gram.

    Peter A. Meyers, 65, of Luxemburg, Iowa, died Wednesday morning, September 21, 1966, at his home. Family and friends called after 7 p.m., Thursday, September 22, at the Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa, where the Rosary was recited at 8 p.m., Friday, September 23. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 24, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Luxemburg, with burial in the church cemetery.
          Mr. Meyers was survived by his wife, Clarissa; a daughter, Mrs. Arnold (Kathleen) Olsem, of Luxemburg, Ia.; five sisters, Mrs. Susan Bries, Mary Meyers, and Magdalena Meyers, all of Luxemburg, Ia., Sister Mary Benvenuta, FFPA, of Boscobel, Wis., and Sister Mary Agnesia, FFPA, of Sparta, Wis.; three brothers, William Meyers, Camillus Meyers, and Alex Meyers, all of Luxemburg, Ia.; and two grandchildren.

    Mrs. Clarissa C. Meyers, 94, of Luxemburg, Iowa, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at home. Family and friends called from 3 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, April 12, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa, where there was an Altar Society rosary recited at 4:30 p.m. and a parish scripture service at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 13, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Luxemburg, with burial in the church cemetery.
          Mrs. Meyers was survived by three granddaughters, Christine Olsem, of Bellevue, Ia., Mary (Sean) Tindle, of Luxemburg, Ia., and Trudy (fiancee Eric Lally) Olsem, of Dubuque, Ia.,; three great-grandchildren, Tess, Thomas and Timothy Tindle, of Luxemburg, Ia.; a son-in-law, Arnold Olsem, of Luxemburg, Ia.; and a brother, Eugene (Eva) Boge, of Charles City, Ia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter; a daughter, Kathleen Olsem in 1998; and seven brothers, Alfred, Cyril, Raymond, Larry, Norbert, Lawrence and Arthur Boge.

    • Kathleen Gertrude Meyers was born on January 29, 1936, in Dyersville, Iowa, daughter of Peter and Clarissa (Boge) Meyers, of Luxemburg, Iowa. Kathleen Meyers married Arnold H. Olsem on August 20, 1959, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Luxemburg, Iowa. Arnold Olsem was born son of August and Anna (Harter) Olsem. Arnold and Kathleen farmed north of Luxemburg, Iowa, until circa 1997. Arnold and Kathleen Olsem had three children: Christine Ann Olsem, Mary Francine Olsem, and Trudy Jo Olsem.

      Kathleen G. Olsem, 61, of Luxemburg, Iowa, died after a long illness, Monday, January 12, 1998, at Mercy Health Center, St. Mary's Unit, at Dyersville, Iowa. Family and friends called after 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 14, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, where there was a parish scripture service at 7 p.m. Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 15, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Luxemburg, Iowa, and burial was in the church cemetery.
            Mrs. olsem was survived by her husband, Arnold, of Luxemburg, Ia.; three daughters, Christine Olsem, of Bellevue, Ia., Mary (Sean) Tindle, of Luxemburg, Ia., and Trudy (Eric Lally) Olsem, of Dubuque, Ia.; her mother, Clarissa Meyers, of Luxemburg, Ia.; and two grandchildren, Tess and Thomas Trindle. She was preceded in death by her father, Peter A. Meyers, in September 1966.

      Kathleen's widower, Arnold Olsem, subsequently remarried, to Virginia Uhl, on June 9, 2000, at Dyersville, Iowa.

  4. John Raymond Boge was born on April 21, 1908, in New Vienna, Iowa, son of Bernard and Gertrude (Gerken) Boge. John Raymond Boge, who was called by his middle name, "Raymond," married Aurelia Elizabeth Flynn on April 21, 1935, in Amarillo, Texas. Aurelia Flynn was born on August 4, 1911, in Groom, Texas, daughter of Elias Otis and Emma (Bohr) Flynn. Raymond and Aurelia Boge lived at Buena Vista, Iowa; Amarillo, Texas; Dubuque, Iowa; and finally at Marshfield, Wisconsin. Raymond and Aurelia Boge had seven children: Patricia Marie Boge, Raymond Jerome Boge, Raphael Eugene Boge, Jeanette Ruth Boge, Kathryn Anne Boge, Shirley Suzanne Boge, and James Donald Boge.

    Aurelia Boge, 74, of Marshfield, Wisconsin, died on March 12, 1986.

    Raymond J. Boge, 81, of Marshfield, Wisconsin, died on March 23, 1999.

    Children of Raymond and Aurelia (Flynn) Boge:

    • Patricia Marie Boge was born on March 22, 1936, in Buena Vista, Iowa, daughter of Raymond and Aurelia (Flynn) Boge. Patricia Boge, who was called "Pat," married Duane A. Praschak on November 30, 1968, at Marshfield, Wisconsin. Duane Praschak was born son of Henry and Emma Praschak. Duane and Pat Praschak had two children: Diane Lynn Praschak and Amy Melissa Praschak.

      Patricia M. Praschak, 55, died September 9, 1991.

    • Raymond Jerome Boge was born at Amarillo, Texas, son of Raymond and Aurelia (Flynn) Boge. Raymond Jerome Boge, who was called by his middle name, "Jerome," married Patricia Furlong on August 5, 1965, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Patricia "Pat" Furlong was born daughter of John and Mary (Robinson) Furlong. Jerome and Pat Boge had three children: Thane Gerard Boge, Justin Blair Boge, and Blythe Elizabeth Boge.

    • Raphael Eugene Boge was born June 16, 1939*, in Amarillo, Texas, son of Raymond and Aurelia (Flynn) Boge. Raphael Eugene Boge, who was called "Gene," lived most of his youth and adult life in Wisconsin. He was a 1963 graduate of St. Norbert's College of DePere, Wisconsin.             On November 4, 1995, Kenneth Boge remarried, to Elizabeth Lynn "Libby" Deutmeyer. Elizabeth Deutmeyer was born daughter of Frank and Joyce (Weber) Deutmeyer. Kenneth and Libby Boge had two children: Victoria Kathryn Boge and Breanna Marie Boge.

    • Mary Ann Boge was born daughter of Arthur and Davidlee (Gilmore) Boge. Mary Ann Boge married Faron Robert Fritz on July 21, 1978, at Wyoming, Iowa. Faron Fritz was born son of Frank R. and Marilyn Fritz. Faron and Mary Ann Fritz had two children: Faron Michael Robert Fritz and Shenna Lynn Fritz. Faron and Mary Ann Fritz were divorced in 1990.

    • Daniel James Boge was born July 25, 1958, son of Arthur and Davidlee (Gilmore) Boge.

      Daniel Boge, 33, died March 12, 1992.

    • Gerald Alvin Boge was born son of Arthur and Davidlee (Gilmore) Boge. Gerald Boge married Nichole Marie Martin. Gerald and Nichole Boge had three children: Makayla Marie Boge, Drew Nicholas Boge, and Brittany Ann Boge.

    • Kathleen Susan Boge was born daughter of Arthur and Davidlee (Gilmore) Boge. Kathleen Boge married Thomas Stimpson in 1982 at Anamosa, Iowa. Thomas Stimpson was born son of John and Betty Stimpson. Thomas and Kathleen Stimpson were divorced in 1987. Kathleen (Boge) Stimpson had three children: Daniel Stimson, Sandra Bunting, and Alicia Marie Lemmer.

  9. Eugene Martin Boge was born on September 17, 1920, in Bankston, Iowa, son of Bernard and Gertrude (Gerken) Boge. Eugene Boge, who was called "Gene," received his education in country schools in North Buena Vista. He was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the South Pacific, in particular in New Guinea, where he was wounded and left for dead.
          Eugene Boge married Eva Susan Huckle on September 2, 1947, in Le Mars, Iowa. Eva Huckle was born on December 13, 1923, in Le Mars, Iowa, daughter of Aloysius Leo "Al" and Catherine (Bender) Huckle. Al Huckle suffered a heart attack while attending the wedding dance given in honor of the marriage of his daughter, Eva, to Eugene Boge. During the evening he was enjoying the best of health and the attack struck with any warning. Al Huckle died eight days later.
          Gene and Eva Boge lived in North Buena Vista, Iowa, until 1949, when they moved to their farm north of Charles City, Iowa, in 1949, where they would spend their lives together. During the 1950s, he operated a sawmill; operated Boge's Tap and Grill in Colwell, in the early 1970s; and Boge's Lawn and Leisure in the 1980s. During the 1970s and 1980s, Gene and Eva spent winters in the Brownsville, Texas, area. He loved to cook. Gene Boge was a member of the American Legion and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Eva graduated from Le Mars High School. Eva was a member of St. Anthony's Circle and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Eva's interests included sewing, gardening, and swimming. Eva's family, however, meant everything to her, and she made every effort to be a part of their lives. Gene and Eva were members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Eugene and Eva Boge had seven children: Bernard Paul Boge III, Kenneth Vincent Boge, Linda Marie Boge, Teresa Ann Boge, Roger Dale Boge, Gordon Joseph Boge, and Norma Ann Boge.

    Eugene Martin Boge, 81, of Charles City, Iowa, died Monday, November 12, 2001, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City. Family and friends called from 3 to 9 p.m., Thursday, November 15, at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City, where there was a parish vigil scripture wake service at 7 p.m. followed by a rosary. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 16, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City, with the Rev. Stanley J. Hayek officiating. Burial was in Beckwith Cemetery, rural Colwell, Iowa, where military rites were accorded by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.
          Mr. Boge was survived by his wife, Eva, of Charles City, Ia.; three sons, Kenneth (Pam) Boge Sr., of Orchard, Ia., Gordon "George" (Janet) Boge, of Charles City, Ia., and Roger (Teresa) Boge, of Klemme, Ia.; three daughters, Linda (Bob) Dodd, of Klemme, Ia., Teresa Boge (Jerry Peters), of Floyd, Ia., and Norma Boge (Eldon Conyers), of Des Moines, Ia.; a daughter-in-law, Norma Boge, of Sacramento, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Barney; seven brothers; a sister; and a great-grandson.

    Eva Boge, 81, of Charles City, Iowa, died Monday, January 31, 2005, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City. Family and friends called from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 3, at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City, where there was a rosary at 4:30 p.m., and a vigil scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 4, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City, with the Rev. Carl Ries officiating. Burial was in Beckwith Cemetery, rural Charles City.
          Mrs. Boge was survived by three sons, Kenny (Pam) Boge, of Orchard, Ia., Roger (Teresa) Boge, of Klemme, Ia., and Gordon "George" (Janet) Boge, of Charles City Ia.; three daughters, Linda (Bob) Dodd, of Klemme, Ia., Teresa Boge, of Charles City, Ia., and Norma (Eldon) Conyers, of Des Moines, Ia.; 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Norma L. Boge, of Sacramento, Calif.; a sister, Rita Harms, of Le Mars, Ia.,; and a brother, Martin (Lou) Huckle, of Le Mars, Ia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; her parents; a son, Bernard "Barney," on Jan. 29, 1994; a grandson, Benjamin Boge; a brother, Duke Huckle; and a brother-in-law, Alfred Harms.

    • Bernard Paul Boge III was born on April 1, 1948, son of Eugene and Eva (Huckle) Boge. Bernard Boge, who was called "Barney," married Norma Lee (Fitch) Monsees on July 18, 1985, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Norma was born daughter of Arthur and Lura Fitch. Barney and Norma Boge lived at Sacramento, California.

      Bernard P. "Barney" Boge III, 45, died on January 29, 1994.

    • Kenneth Vincent Boge was born son of Eugene and Eva (Huckle) Boge. Kenneth Boge married Pamela Anna Townsley on February 10, 1973, in Charles City, Iowa. Kenneth and Pam Boge lived at Orchard, Iowa. Kenneth and Pamela Boge had three children: Kenneth Vincent Boge, Jr., Aaron John Boge, and Amy Marie Boge.

    • Linda Marie Boge was born daughter of Eugene and Eva (Huckle) Boge. Linda Boge married Richard Billings. Richard and Linda Boge had one child: Richard G. Billings, Jr. Richard and Linda Billings were divorced.
            On December 2, 1978, Linda (Boge) Billings married Bob Dodd at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Bob Dodd was born son of Robert Merle and Verneel (Humphrey) Dodd. Bob Dodd brought two children into their marriage: Heather Lea Dodd and Shannon Marie Dodd. Bob and Linda Dodd lived at Klemme, Iowa.

    • Teresa Ann Boge was born daughter of Eugene and Eva (Huckle) Boge. Teresa Boge married Steven Bunn on September 29, 1973, in Charles City, Iowa. Steven and Teresa Bunn had four children: Jason Steven Bunn, Angela Lee Bunn, Kelly Ann Bunn, and Benjamin Mason Bunn. Steven and Teresa Bunn were divorced in 1987. Teresa Boge lived at Charles City, Iowa.

    • Roger Dale Boge was born son of Eugene and Eva (Huckle) Boge. Roger Boge married Teresa M. Oakley on July 10, 1976, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Teresa Oakley was born daughter of Lloyd and Geneva Oakley. Roger and Teresa Boge lived at Klemme, Iowa. Roger and Teresa Boge had three children: Stacy Marie Boge, Shannon Gale Boge, and Adam Eugene Boge.

    • Gordon Joseph Boge was born son of Eugene and Eva (Huckle) Boge. Gordon Boge, who was called "George," married Julie Ann Waid on August 11, 1979. Gordon and Julie Boge had two children: Jessica Ann Boge and Mickey Eugene Boge. Gordon and Julie Boge were divorced.
            On February 5, 1990, Gordon "George" Boge married Janet Mary Rogers. Janet brough two children into their marriage: Jesse Ray Arp and Kathleen Elizabeth Arp. George and Janet Boge lived at Charles City, Iowa. Gordon and Janet Boge had three children: Samantha Kathleen Boge, Melissa Rose Boge, and Jackson Bernard Boge.

    • Norma Ann Boge was born daughter of Eugene and Eva (Huckle) Boge. Norma Boge married Eldon Conyers. Eldon and Norma Conyers lived at Des Moines, Iowa.
