Anderson Sunday Herald, August 5, 1984: Dessie L. Rhoads, 74, Anderson, died Friday evening at Hancock County Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness.
She was born in Fairmount and was a resident of Anderson most of her life. She retired from Anaconda Wire after 30 years of employment. She also had worked at National Tile Company and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, the Rains Bowlettes and the East Side Lanes Retirees League.
She is survived by two sons, <still living> of Chicago and <still living> of Duncannon, Pa.; a daughter, <still living> of Sunnyvale, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Robert D. Loose Funeral Home with the Rev. Roland Dunlop officiating. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today form 2 to 9 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Chester Frank Rhoads

Chester Rhoads, 74, of 2614 Meridian St., died Sunday about 8 p.m. at the Irene Byron Hospital in Fort Wayne after an extended illness. Hew was a retired New York Central employee and for several years was a school traffic policeman at Twenty-ninth Street School.
He was a member of the Noble Street Methodist Church and the Eagles Lodge.
Surviving are the widow, Dessie; two sons, David Rhoads of Chicago, and Danny Rhoads of USN, San Diego, Calif.; one step-daughter, Mrs. Wilford Smith of Mountain View, Calif.; eight grandchildren and one aunt, Mrs. Curtis McGranahan of Anderson.
Friends will be received at the Sells and Bowe Funeral Home after noon tomorrow. Arrangements for services have not been completed pending thearrival of relatives.

MRS. LULA RHOADS DIES HERE TODAY
Mrs. Lula Rhoads, age 75, living at 2614 Meridian Street, died today at 12:30 p.m. at the family residence following an illness of some time. A native of Ohio, Mrs. Rhoads had lived in Anderson for many years.
The body was removed to the Earl Sells funeral home and arrangements for funeral services have not been completed. Burial will take place in West Maplewood Cemetery.
Surviving besides the husband is a son, Chester Rhoads, at home.
