Jasper Allen Tatum (James Claude's father) son of John N. Tatum and Nancy Copeland Tatum

Born: Apr 26, 1861 Tattnall Co, GA, (I believe the Joseph in the 1870 census is Jasper, he did have a brother named Joseph that was 11 years old than him) Joseph, son age 9, Reidsville, Tattnall, GA.;

 Jasper A., age 19, farm laborer in the household of John Surrency (Jasper's maternal grandmother was Charlotte Surrency, this may have been an Uncle) Tattnall, GA, US 1880 Census

It appears Jasper moved to Florida sometime between 1880 and 1884 when he married Louisa Keen at age 22 in Hillsborough, FL on April 24, 1884, "Florida, Marriages, 1830-1993," index

J.A. Tatum, age 24, Head, (shows Louisa as his wife), farmer, Hillsborough Co, FL, Florida State 1885 Census

Allen Tatom, age 39, head, Occupation: farrier, Alafia, Hillsborough, FL, US 1900 Census

AllenTatum, age 49, head, general farmer, Alafia, Hillsborough, FL, US 1910 Census

Jasper A. Tatum, age 59, general farmer, Alafia, Hillsborough, FL, US 1920 Census

Death: April 21, 1927, age 65, Keysville (formerly known as Alafia), Hillsborough, FL, buried Cedar Grove Cemetery, Plant City, Hillsborough, FL

I took the photo of Jasper's grave, he is next to Louisa.  However, I found  a Jasper Allen Tatum with a daughter, Myrette J. Mayo in the Florida 1935 census. He and Louisa had a daughter named Mett/Myrtle/Metta and she is also buried in Cedar Grove.  He is surrounded by all the Tatum's of my family on the same page. It shows his marital status as widow. He is 72 years old which is the right age.  There is no other Jasper Allen that I can find and he did not name a son Jasper Allen who not be old enough anyway.  Strange, perhaps his grave stone was placed later by someone with an incorrect date.  I am searching for a later death certificate.

John either moves to or is visiting Florida on Dec 5, 1875 when he dies of Cerebral Hemorrhage according to his death cert.  His grave stone says, Rev John N. Newton and he is buried next to his wife, Mrs. Nancy Tatum in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Plant City, FL Florida, Find A grave index.  I took the photo.

 I hope this helps.  Thank you for your help.
