OBITUARY

TATUM EXPIRES TUESDAY NIGHT
C. L. Tatum, 45, prominent merchant of Hokes Bluff, died at the Holy Name of Jesus Hospital at 11 o'clock Tuesday night, following an emergency operation several days ago.
The funeral will be held at Hokes Bluff at 10 o'clock Thursday morning with Rev. Mr. Starkey and Rev. Mr. McGowan conducting the services.
Members of the Odd Fellows Lodge will form an escort to the cemetery and the Masons will read their burial service at the grave. The deceased was a member of those orders and also of the A. M. O. S. of Gadsden.
The pallbearers will be R. L. Pentecost, A. J. Griffith, John Morris , Amos Barnes, Flan Turner, C. W. Griffith.
Surviving are the widow. One daughter, Mrs L. C. Graham, and one son, Austin; three brothers, C. L. Tatum, Kensington, Ga.; R. C. Tatum, Attalla; R. G. Tatum, Kensington, Ga.; and one sister, Mrs L. R. Fitts, Gadsden.
He was born in Dade County, Georgia, in 1883, and came to Alabama about 20 years ago. He lived in this county most of the time since then. He was a member of the Hokes Bluff Baptist church and was an ardent church worker. He was highly respected in his community where it is said his death is universally mourned.
