Our first Jesse
was born between 1750-1760. He died after 1830. His son Jesse
was born between 1802-1805 in South Carolina . He died after 1880
and was buried in an unmarked grave in the Roswell Methodist Church
Cemetery in Roswell , Ga. He married Sarah E. Rawson ( Rowzee )
on April 9, 1829 in Elbert County , GA. Sarah was born Dec.,
1811 in Virginia and died after 1900. Jesse #2 and Sarah had nine
children: Martha Ann (b. 9/17/1833 in Elbert County , GA. ); Lucinda
A. (b. 1834 in Elbert County ); Francis A (b. 1836 in Elbert County.
known as Frank. Missing in action in CSA); James Josephus (b. 1838
in Elbert County known as Jim enlisted in Confederate Army Co. 1,
18th Georgia Infantry in 1865); George W. (b. 3/15/1839 in
Elbert County Served in CSA); Mary F. (b. 1/02/1846 in Cobb County,
GA); Sarah Jane (b. 1848 in Cobb County, GA); Jesse Alphus (my great
grandfather b. 1853 in Cobb County, GA.) and William M. (b. Mar. 1856
in Cobb County, GA. known as Bill Married Sam Ella Morton.) Jesse Alphus
married twice. His first wife (my great grandmother) was Mary Ann
Henson. They married on 12/26/1873 in Cobb County, GA and had 10
children: Green Alexander (b. 6/21/1875; Mettie Tatum Paris (b.
10/08, 1877); Lucy Tatum Mostellar (b. 05/03/1880); Elizabeth Tatum
Manning (known as Lizzie b. 08/10/1883); Infant Tatum (b. 07/09/1889
d. 07/27/1889); Jesse Henson (my grandfather b. 06/23/1890);
Clifford Leland Tatum (known as Jack b. 08/23/1892); Horace Luther
Tatum (b. 09/22/1895); Newton Warner Tatum (b. 3/10/1887 d.
06/28/1889); Infant Tatum (b. 06//17/1897 died same day). After Mary Ann
Hensons death, Jesse Alphus remarried. His second wife was
Marietta Alvarilla Bates, known as Rilla. Together they had six
children: Irvin (b. 04/16/1906); John B. (b. 07/29/1912); James A.
(b. 05/20/1916); Mary F. Tatum Randall (b. 01/06/1908); Annie Mae Tatum
(b. 05/06/1909); Tatum ( still living.) Jesse Alphus and both of his
wives are buried in Old Big Creek Cemetery in Alpharetta , GA.
This area was originally in Milton County , but is now in Fulton County . Jesse Henson
Tatum (my grandfather) married Annie Mae Queen Kinard in January of 1921
in Atlanta , GA. Both were killed in an explosion at their
Atlanta home in January of 1936 and are buried in Greenwood Cemetery ,
Atlanta , Ga. Together they had two sons: Charles Mason Tatum
(b. 07/08, 1921 d. 05/21/2005); Tatum ( still living ). |
