Isaac Good and
Sarah Jane Walker

Isaac Good was born in Pennsylvania about 1840, the son of Isaac Good and Catharine Sumney. Isaac Good, Jr.married Sarah Jane Walker, daughter of William Walker and Martha Cruikshank, both born in Belfast Ireland. Isaac and Sarah had five children. In 1880 Isaac, then 40, was living in Wilkins in Allegheny County and working as a "RR Boss." With him were Sarah, then 38 years old, and five children, all born in Pennsylvania. Isaac and Sarah actually had six children, although only five were recorded in the 1900 census.

1. Isaac and Sarah's first child was William, born on July 14, 1861. William married Jennie Dimpsey in 1886. Their Marriage License was recorded in the Allegheny County Marriage License Docket. In 1900 William and Jennie were living at 609 Kelly Street in Wilkinsburg with three children: Laurie Marie, born in October, 1888, George D., born in 1891, and Frank E.    George married Lois Nichols. George died in 1941. His obituary read:

   GOOD - Suddenly on Jan. 23 1941 at 4:30 a.m., George D., husband of Lois Nichols and son of Jennie D. and the late William E. Good, and brother of Marie Good Lindsay and Frank E. Good. Friends received at the funeral home of T. D. Turner, 729 Wallace Ave., Wilk, where services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

   Frank married Isabella Grainger and had three children: Evelyn, Frank Jr. and Helen. Frank died in 1950. His obituary read:

   GOOD - July 15, 1950, Frank E., husband of the late Isabella Grainger Good of 10 Fitzsimmons St., Penn Twp., father of Mrs. Evelyn Motkoswki, Frank E. Jr., and Helen Marie, brother of Mrs. Marie G. Lindsay. Friends received at T. D. Turner's 729 Wallace Ave., Wilkinsburg, where services will be held Thursday morning at 11 o'clock.

   Frank's mother, Jennie died in 1949. Her obituary read:

   GOOD - On Monday morning, Jan. 10, 1949, Jennie Dimpsey, widow of William E. Good of 1013 Wood St., Wilkinsburg; mother of Marie Good Lindsay and Frank E. Good; grandmother of Evelyn G. Molkowski; Frank E. Good, Jr., and Helen M. Good. Friends received at T. D. Turner's 729 Wallace Ave., Wilkinsburg where services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

   William, Jennie, Frank, Isabella and George are buried in Section 2 of Monongahela Cemetery in Braddock, PA.
   
   
2. Isaac and Sarah's second child was George.
   
   
3. Isaac and Sarah's third child was Charles Bennett, born about 1868. Somehow Charles was not recorded in the 1880 Census. Jan Ellis writes, "He was 27 when he died. I do not believe he was married. I have a death notice rather than an obit & just his parents were names were mentioned. As far as I can determine, I come from a very narrow family tree. Of Isaac's six children I believe only my g grandfather William had children. Of William's four children only my grandfather had children." Charles was buried in 1895 in Monongahela Cemetery.
   
   
4. Isaac and Sarah's fourth child was Carrie, born in Pennsylvania about 1868.
   
   
5. Isaac and Sarah's fifth child was Albert. Albert was born in Blair County, PA on October 30, 1872. Albert married Lydia Ray in 1902. Their Marriage License was recorded in Volume 59 of the Allegheny County Marriage License Docket. Albert died in February, 1905. His obituary read:

   GOOD - On Thursday February 16, 1905 at 9:20 a.m. ALBERT, son of Sarah J. and the late Isaac Good, and beloved husband of Lydia Ray Good, aged 32 years. Funeral services at the residence of his mother, 408 Todd Street (Hampton place) Wilkinsburg, Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Internment private.

6. Isaac and Sarah's sixth child was Helen, born in Pennsylvania about 1878. Helen may be the Helen Good who was buried in section 2 lot 153 of Monongahela Cemetery in 1890, which would have made her 12 years old at the time of her death.

Isaac died in 1897 and was buried in section 2 lot 153 of Monongahela Cemetery.

Sarah Jane Walker Good died in 1922. Her obituary read:

GOOD - At Wilkinsburg, Pa on Sunday, April 16, 1922 at 2:30 p.m. SARAH JANE WALKER, widow of Isaac good, aged 78 years. Funeral from her late residence, 420 South Avenue on Tuesday evening, April 18 at 8 o'clock. Interment Wednesday morning. Source: The Pittsburgh Gazette Times Monday April 17, 1922 page 12

Sarah was interred in section 2 lot 153 of Monongahela Cemetery, Braddock, PA, with her husband sons and her sons Albert and William.
