I'm seeking information regarding burial place of my GGG grandparents,
Mordecai and Elizabeth (McCampbell) Sweeney who resided near the town of
Letts or Lettsville and Ononwa in Muscatine or Louisa Counties during the
period 1840-1860's. They moved to that area with some of their children
(George, Thomas, John, and Harrison) in 1839 or 1840. George, Thomas, and
John were said to have settled near Wapello and John near Chariton, Iowa.
Mordecai was born in PA around 1790 and married Elizabeth near Shelbyville,
KY in 1813 before moving to Salem, IN in 1817..
Mordecai's parents said to be from Ulster Co., Ireland.

great grandfather, his siblings and his parents in the census.
My g-grandfather (Benjamin Norman Kolaas) was born in Calmar,
Winnishiek County, Iowa on 27 Jun 1868. His siblings are Martin H., Synneva
(Lucinda), Anna Amelia, Johanna (Hannah) and Nels. I have non-validated
information that his parents are Jon and Martha Kolaas from Fresnik, Norway.
Martha was supposedly born in Fresnik, Norway on 6 Dec 1839.
I am trying to verify this information, especially Benjamin's parents names,
dates of arrival in Iowa or previous American locations.

grandmothers death date and burial place. Isabelle (Belle) Ellis Hooker McMaster b: around 1870-1875 in New Hampshire. 1870 is probably correct. She ran away when my dad was an infant, while in So.Dak. Before then, she lived in Iowa as Hooker. I last found her in 1920 census in Minneapolis, she may have re-married. BCert. on my dad and uncle, couldn't find her B Cert.. Ellis family born in New Hamp. with Isabelle (her given name) in it. don't know her parents name for sure. She had a son in Iowa at the Mitchell County Poor Farm in 1899 Harold Hooker, I later found him listed at the Hastings State Insane Asylum in Iowa, last date was 1920. It listed Harolds father on his BCert. as Albert Hooker also born in Iowa.

My
grandfather William Grant CRAIG was from Ohio but he married twice in Iowa. 1st
to Alice C. NORTON whom he married Sept. 1927. Alice died between 1931 and
1934. This is an assumption as my mother was born 2 Mar 1936. I have not found
an obituary for her, but I am still looking. I know my Aunt Lavonne, my mother
Colleen, and my Uncle Billy were all born in Boone, Iowa. My Aunt died of
cancer in September of 1987. I have a picture of Alice and my grandfather when
she was pregnant with my Aunt. My grandmother is Williamina Mackrell PORTEOUS.
She is from Scotland, but her family was naturalized citizens from what I
gather. They traveled between Iowa and Scotland/Ireland. I know I have Aunts
and Uncles buried in Des Moines, Fort Dodge, and Boone.

My GGGrandmother b. 1826 somewhere in NY,Harriet Fisher, aka Rachel Harriet Fisher, md Sylvanus Bryant, he b. ME 1811, I believe that marriage to be under BRANT rather than Bryant, Dec 24, 1846 Jackson, Rives, Michigan. That marriage was performed by JP J.M. Densmore, one witness was M. Densmore and the other J. Hobart. Furthering my suspicion is my GGGrandparents first son Henry Densmore Bryant was born Michigan 1849. (DAR records have Sylvanus as son of Micah Bryant III and Mary (Polly) w/ Micah being son of Micah Jr Bryant and Margaret Paddock). Sylvanus and Harriet aka Rachel had a daughter Emma in MI abt 1851. Harriet and Sylvanus lived in Jackson Co, Michigan. By 1853/54 they were in Illinois and had son Franklin P. Bryant and by 1860 Story county Iowa where my GGrandmother Almatia L Bryant was born.
