Lewis C. BARNER (b. 1796 in Germany(Prussia)  d 7/9/1863 in Sneedsville, TN and Hester (Heddy) ? (b. 11/26/1798 in VA - d. 2/12/1880 Bell Co. KY )

William Henry BARNER-b. 12/9/1826 in IN  d. 3/01/1918 Thornfield, MO. He was the oldest of eight children of Lewis C. BARNER (b. 1796 in Germany(Prussia)  d 7/9/1863 in Sneedsville, TN and Hester (Heddy) ? (b. 11/26/1798 in VA - d. 2/12/1880 Bell Co. KY) 

William Henry BARNER wrote his memoirs of the year he spent during the civil war around 1902 or 1903.  If you would like to read this, please click here.

1st marriage was to Lucy EVANS who was born 3/19/1836 d. 10/12/1879. They were married on 6/18/1856 and had several children:

Notes for William H. Barner:  He was married three times,  to Lucy Evans, Mary Begley, and Andromica Short.  Muster rolls show that he was enrolled 10 Mar 64 at Hancock Co.conscript from East Tennessee, aged 38. Later on he lived in Hawkins County, TN. He was a member of Company D 7th Regiment Tennessee Infantry under Lt. Col. Shepard Regt. Lt. General Martin Commanding Company D in Archers Brigade AP Hills Corps, Lt. Commander John T. Heaths Division.   He was born in IN and lived in TN and MO.  I have a diary that he wrote that includes his memories during the time he served in the Civil War.  If you want to read his memoirs click here. He is buried in Thornfield, Ozark County, MO.  Andromica is buried at Brown's Chapel Baptist Church in Pacolet Mills, SC.

Loughmiller's from in or around Salem, IN in 1865.

They were Philip Loughmiller who was William Henry Barner's uncle. He was living in Brad(ford?) - I'm assuming he is an Uncle on his mother's side.

There was Alex, John and George.  I do not know the relationship of these Loughmiller's except they are related. They all lived close together from what I can gather. William H. Barner's   diary also mentions Trigg Darnell who was George Loughmiller's father-in-law, who lived in Hancock, Harrison Co. IN.

I am desperately trying to find the common bond between these two families but am having a very difficult time.  If you have any information tying them together please email me.

From the census records of Spartanburg, SC, Adolphus Burgess appears to be the son of a Daniel Burgess. He is on both the 1850 & 1860 census living with Daniel Burgess & Jane.

Daniel Burgess may be the son of a Thomas and Polly Burgess whom he is living near in both 1850 & 1860.
