This website is intended to publish my genealogical research, which I have been conducting since the late 1970's. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to my mentors in this endeavor: my aunt, Mary Burns Stark, and my dad's cousin, Pauline Stark Moore. Gratitude is also extended to Clovis LaFleur, who has expended tremendous effort in documenting the descendants of Aaron Stark of Connecticut and who has also researched the related Zachary line. There are so many others whom I wish to acknowledge who have done great work on various lines of my ancestry, but it would take up far too much room on this page. I ask that you check out my Acknowledgment Page (once it is built)

Today I went up to Groveton, county seat of Trinity county, Texas. According to information I have received, Dewitt & Emma were married in Trinity county. I was able to determine that the Starks were living there from sometime around 1903 until about 1926 (and a few stayed there after that), but I did not find any marriage certificate for Dewitt & Emma. In fact, i did not locate any Stark marriages there at all. Keep in mind that the records in Trinity are not very well organized. The index to the death records was useless and I did not have time to scan through the originals, but I was able to find several birth records. You can review the information on our Birth Records page.
The images from Brookside cemetery are not yet online as I had promised earlier. Some of the images were corrupted during a file transfer and the originals got overwritten. I had originally planned to retake these pictures anyway, so there will simply be a delay in getting them online. I also found out from Pauline that there are several Hunters at Brookside, so there are additional headstones that I need to locate. I probably wont retake these pictures until March.

Today I was able to get out to Brookside Cemetery in Houston. I was able to get several tombstone pictures, but unfortunately the lighting was not good and some tombstones had sunken because of the rains that we have had all through January. I have reported the problematic markers which they have put in a workorder to have fixed.
There were far more people buried at Brookside than I was expecting. I'll be getting this survey online in the next day or two along with the pictures that I took. I will go back out there on some fine spring day (in a couple of months) when the lighting is better. I'll replace the pictures if I can get some better snaps.
I did find something interesting and quite by accident. Everyone at Brookside is from my father's side (except for my mother, herself), both Stark and Bozeman. Over near Aunt Jewel and Uncle Ezra I found two dual Stapleton markers. There are Stapletons in my mother's ancestry. One of these Stapleton markers had the named "Seab Stapleton". The name "Seaborn Stapleton" is very common in my mother's family and in fact she is descended from a Seaborn Stapleton. I suspect that these 4 Stapletons represented by the 2 dual markers are indirectly related to my mother. The other marker had a Samuel Stapleton, which is also a name in that line. When I get back to Stapleton research I'm going to see if I can connect these 4 individuals to our Stapleton line.

I am working on getting the "Data" pages online. This was a bit of a challenge since I was trying to format tables using CSS. This can be troublesome at times since CSS was developed to eliminate tables! If you click on the "Data" link above you should find an active link for the Texas Birth Index. I have several names on the list, but not all. This page, like most others, will continue to change and grow.
This past Monday, Jan 29th, I went out to San Jacinto county and picked up a copy of Luther B. Justice's Death Certificate. It is dated from 1905, so it was not going to contain much information, but no one in the county knew Luther, so there was even less info than usual. I will get this document scanned and online soon. The original I will be mailing to Diane since she is a direct descendant of Luther's.
On the way back from San Jacinto county I stopped at Rosewood Cemetery in Humble, Texas. I was able to get a picture of Dennis Dewitt Stark's tombstone (my grandfather). There were other tombstones there as well, including some I did not truly expect to be there. As part of the "Data" pages I will be adding Cemetery pages that will have the tombstone pictures I have taken. Look under the data link.
