Jeremiah served as a soldier in the War of 1812, Captain Mijacah Pataway`s Company of North Carolina, Militia-1st Regiment-Rank private, Fifth Brigade, Second Regiment called to service in Norfolk, Virginia by orders issued September, 1814. He volunteered at Gates Court House, North Carolina October 1, 1814 for six months and was discharged at Norfolk, Virginia on Febuary 10, 1815. Survivor original 24,441 bounty land warrents 21530, 80 acres, 1850, 22594, 80 acres, 1855. In 1836 Jeremaih his brothers John, Henry, Josiah moved to Alabama and later move to Shubuta, Clarke County, Mississippi with his son Alexander G. Horn and his family. In 1850 in Clarke, and Sumter County Alabama, Jeremiah owned 16 slaves. When he moved to Shubuta, Clarke County, Mississippi he took all of his slaves with him. Jeremiah owned property in the Augusta Land District in Clarke County, Mississippi, he gave Directors of the Mobile and Ohio Rail Road Company 100ft. right of way through his property June 24, 1851. On December 20, 1851, Jeremiah gift-deeded 14 slaves to his daughter-in law Rebecca and granddaughter Ellie Horne.
