Roy D. Martin says he doesn't care how people contact him as long as he hears from them - about faces missing from the Mississippi Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
The monument, which is on U.S. 90 in Ocean Springs about 3˝ miles east of Washington Avenue, carries the names and, in many cases, photographs of more than 650 Mississippians either killed in action, missing in action or imprisoned during the Vietnam War. Martin hopes that by once again putting out the call for missing photographs, the monument may be completed.
"Every time we do this, we get a couple of more responses," he said. "Every time, someone answers because they moved from where the veteran lived when he (or she) enlisted."
Martin can be reached by fax at 435-2577 or by e-mail at rmartin9@bellsouth.net <mailto:rmartin9@bellsouth.net>. Or if you have a family member who qualifies for inclusion in the memorial, you can contact the Mississippi Vietnam Veterans Memorial Committee directly at P.O. Box 721, Biloxi, MS 39533-0721, or (800) 637-0721, or one of the following Coast telephone numbers: 831-9886, 435-1229 or 868-7658.
What follows are the names of Vietnam veterans from Harrison and Jackson counties whose photographs are missing from the memorial.
Jackson County: Giovannino Tumminia of Pascagoula.
What follows is a complete list, in alphabetical order by last name, of Mississippians whose photographs are missing from the Mississippi Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Contact the memorial committee if you recognize a family member's name:
