Mary Jane is the child of Givens Shifflett and Lucinda Morris and sister to Frances Matilda, Rebecca March, Lydia and Delilah Shifflett.

MARY JANE SHIFLETT 1941
Mrs. Mary Jane Shiflett, 85, widow of Hasten J. Shiflett, died at the home of her son, Buey Shiflett, Dec. 27, 1941, after a short illness. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Givenes Shiflett. She was a loving and devoted mother, a good, kind neighbor and friend. The following children survive, Mrs. Charlie Davis of Craigsville, Mrs. Bez Morris of near Stanardsville, Journey Shifflett of Covington, William Shiflett of Free Union, and Sam and Buey Shiflett of Advance Mills. She leaves, also 41 Grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren. The Rev. N. L. Poling of the Brethren Church conducted the services at Evergreen cemetery. She was a life-long member of the Evergreen church. At her request no flowers were used on her grave. Greene County Record
