Wife of East Rockinham Man Was injured Wednesday--Failed to Respond to Medical Treatment

Mrs. Warnie Shifflett wife of Hosea Shifflett of near Yanacy, died at 6:30 o'clock last evening as a result of injuries received Wednesday morning, when she was kicked by a colt. The colt's hoof struck Mrs. Shifflett in the abdomen causeing internal injuries. Dr. L.M. Lewis was called, but Mrs. Shifflett's injuries were such that she did not respond to medical treatment. Mrs.Shifflett was Miss. Warnie Coleman and was about fifty years old. The circumstances of her death are particularly sad and the family has the sympathy of a wide circle of friends. Surviving Mrs. Shifflett besides her husband are five children, Irvine and Ernest Shifflett, Mrs. Robert Sipe. Miss. Atha and Elizabeth Shifflett all of near Yancey. Funeral arrangements had not been completed by last night.
