Christine Horne MACON - Mrs. Ben Horne, the former Christine White (Chris), of 3818 Ridge Avenue, died Monday, December 29, 2003. Graveside services will be held Friday, January 2, 2004 at 2:00PM at Rose Hill Cemetery with Dr. Bob Setzer and the Reverend Ben Taylor officiating. The family may be contacted at the residence. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the donor's favorite charity. -Mrs. Horne was predeceased by a son, Herbie Horne. A native of Macon, Mrs. Horne was a retired jewelry consultant for Carlyle Jewelry Company of Macon Mall. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and a member of Keenagers and the Bible Study Group at First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Historical Society and Heritage Foundation and a member of Collapache Garden Club and Forest Hills Garden Club where she served as Devotional Chaplain. She was a life member of Federated Garden Clubs of Georgia. -Mrs. Horne was a professor of Ikebana International where she was secretary for many years. She was a teacher of Ikenobo and Sogetsue Schools. A published poet, she was a charter member of Society of American Poets. She was an executive and advisory board member of the Belles and Beaus of Liberty Banks and a volunteer at the Museum of Arts and Sciences, the Hay House, and the Woodruff House. She was a charter member of the Cherry Blossom Association of Macon and a member of Metropolitan Dinner Club, YWCA, and Macon Woman's Club. -Survivors: Husband, Ben Horne of Macon; Son, Ben Horne, Jr. of Macon; Daughter, Juan Driggers of Cochran; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. -Hart's Mortuary has charge of arrangements.
