Somerset County, S.S. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to the Sheriff of Somerset County Pa. Greeting. Whereas at an Orphans Court held at Somerset in and for the County of Somerset on the 26th day of April AD 1852 before the Hon. F. M. Kimmel President and ? Kurtz and Jonathan Knepper associate Judges of the Same Court. The petitioner Catharine Ansel, Widow of Michael Ansel late of Upper Turkeyfoot Township in said County dec'd represents that said petitioner is the widow of the late Michael Ansel deceased who died intestate leaving issue ten children to wit Michael Ansel resident in Fayette County Pa. John Ansel, Hannah Ansel, Susan Ansel, Sally Ansel married to John Miner, Rachel Ansel married to Jacob Miner, Polly Ansel married to John Nicelow, Catherine Ansel married to Jacob Nicelow, Margaret Ansel married to Jonas Nicelow, Elizabeth Ansel widow of Michael Fierstone dec'd & that the intestate died seized in his ? as fee, of and in a certain messuage and tract of land Situate in upper Turkeyfoot Township in said County. Containing one hundred and ninety two and one fourth acres strict meassure, being the same tract of land and for the same interest conveyed by Jonathan Sofberry by deed dated 11th of Feb 1805 with the appurtenances. Your petitioner therefore begs your honors to award an inquest to make partition of he premises aforesaid, to and among the children and representatives of said intestate in such manner and such proportions as by the laws of this Commonwealth is directed. If such partition can be made without prejudice to or spoiling the whole but if such partition cannot be made thereof as aforesaid then to value and appraise the same and make report of their proceding therein to the aforesaid Orphans Court to be held at Somerset June 29 1852 by order of Court. To the Heirs and legal Representative of Michael Ansel Dec'd take notice that an Inquisition will be held at the late dwelling House of Said deceased in the Township of Upper Turkeyfoot in the County of Somerset on Saturday the twenty second day of June 1852 for the purpose of making partition of the Real Estate of Said Deceased to and among his children and legal Representatives if the same can be done without prejudice to or Spoiling of the whole otherwise to value and Appraise the same according to Law at which time and place you are required to attend if you think proper. Inquisition indented and taken at the dwelling house Late of Michael Ansel deceased in Upper Turkeyfoot Township Somerset County Pa on the 22 day of June 1852 Before John Weller High Sheriff of Said County by Virtue of A writ of partition or valuation to him directed and to this inquisition annexed by the oaths and affirmations of Philip Sulivan, Josia Gross, Thomas King, Samuel Lechleton, David Lichleten, Solomon Baldwin, Samuel King, Jonathan bought Jonathan Tombold, Henry Greager, John Lucas, A. Cunningham, twelve free honest and lawfull men of his bailiwick who on their oaths and affirmations Aforesaid Respectively do say that on the day and year aforesaid they went to and ?(could be report) the lands and tenements of which Michael Ansel in the said writ mentioned died seazed and then and there did find that the same land and tenement could not be partitioned and divided to and among the widows and children in the said write named without prejudice to or Spoiling of the whole there of and therefore the inquest aforesaid on their oaths and affirmations aforesaid have valued and appraised the as follows
No Viz containing 192 acres at four dollars and seventy five cents an Acres in testimony whereof as well the Said Sheriff as the inquest aforesaid have to his inquisition set their hands and seals de?.

The land was advertised and ultimately purchased by Hanna Ansel for $651. Most of the inventory papers are too unclear to transcribe
Note from Robert Lee Choate in 1985 states "Since Michael Ansell went to Kanawha Co., not in West Virginia.
