John Jackson Farris [12771]
Lived in Elba, Alabama. School teacher, elected tax assesssor of Coffee County and held the office for four consecutive terms. Seeing the need of farm women for sewing machines while on his tax rounds, he became an agent. He later added musical instruments to his store but farming was his mainstay and ran several farms at different locations. He also dealt in timber. John married Beatrice Elizabeth "Lizzie" Kimmey [12770] [MRIN: 4813], daughter of Captain Mason Creed Kimmey [12814] and Sarah "Sallie" Cole [12813], on December 20, 1883. (Beatrice Elizabeth "Lizzie" Kimmey [12770] was born on September 1, 1862 and died on September 13, 1951.) |
