General Notes:
Age 9 when her mother (Apsilla) died asked Catherine (David Wilson Mother) to raise Isababe at 9 years of age because she was dying. 1st marriage to Sapp on stone: My dear wife is gone
Based on the best information that I have, I have determined these facts. William Shoemaker Holder was born around 1798 and died about 1859 at the age of 61. Absola Coody was born in 1824 and died in 1872 at the age of 48. William was 26 years older than Absola. They were married in 1841, William was 43 years old and Absola was 17 years old. They were married for about 18 years. Seven of their children were born between 1842 and 1859. In 1863 Isabella was born 4 years after the death of William. In 1864 Elizabeth was born 5 years after the death of William. At this time no marriage information on Absola after William died to suggest a 2nd marriage. (GW) George W. Holder was born around 1831 and died in 1864 (Civil War) at the age of 33. George was 7 years older than Absola. In the 1850 census a (GW) George W. Holder was living with William and Absola. In 1850 (GW) George W. Holder was 19 years old and listed as a farmer. In 1860 (GW) George W. Holder was listed like he was head of family and listed as a farmer. William has already died. George did die in the Civil War as told by other relatives as to their father or Grandfathers fate. We know that William did not die in the war because it had not begun when he died. The main questions are: Who is George W. Holder? Is he a son from a previous marriage of William? If so who are the other children of William, being that William has so many with Absola. If he was a son, who his mother? Is he a brother or some other relative of William? Who is the father of Isabella and Elizabeth?
Based on the information my hypothesis is: George is at this point a son of William. George is the father of Isabella and Elizabeth. I think Absola would either engaged in a relationship with a stepson to produce two children or married him. The were not blood related and were Similar in age. For now there is no proof that there was a 2nd marriage for Absola. Maybe the two live together. Being that for more than 10 years he lived in the same household. Being the age factor of them and all, I might suspect the parentage of some of the other children. (We did not invent it)
The bottom line is, no one knows for sure and unless a marriage is found or other hard proof, all of this is speculation. So until I see otherwise or proved different, that is what I am going with in my file.
I do not agree with Anthony E. Holder that Isabella and Elizabeth were orphans.
