Cole, Susan A., wife of W. C. Cole, born March 6 1837-died Jan 5 1879 aged __ y, 9m. 29d. [ daughter of Jesse N. Tate- married William Cole, [one child, mother and child died and are buried together].

There are other graves here marked with native stones.

The cemetery is in fair condition with a number of stones standing [May 2001]. The current owners of the property are beginning to clear the cemetery.This cemetery was recorded in 1982 by AL Ewens and S. T. Lawson

Mr. Warren Tate was buried at Mt. Horeb church Tuesday May 24, aged 89 years and 5 months. He was the father of fourteen children, thirteen of whom survive him. He was twice married. The community extends sympathy to the bereaved wife and children.

Herman Tate, farmer and stockman, who lived 3 miles south of Williamsburg, was killed at a train crossing in Mexico last Saturday when his truck was struck by a Chicago & Alton train.

The body was brought here and later taken to his home where funeral services

MRS. ROSABEL TATE DIED HERE SATURDAY

INTERNMENT MADE AT OAK GROVE CEMETERY MONDAY AFTERNOON

Mrs. Rosabel Tate, 41 years old, wife of Pearl Tate of this city, died at her home here Saturday. She was the mother of five children, the youngest being only a few days old, and who with the husband survive her.

After a short service at the home, conducted by Rev. H. A. Doughty, pastor of the Methodist church, the body was taken to Oak Grove, where after a funeral service conducted by Rev. Neusum of Minneola, interment was made in the Oak Grove cemetery.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral were; Miss Nellie Windsor and Mr. And Mrs. O. Windsor, of Watchaldo, Florida; Miss Hester Windsor; and Mrs. Virgil Windsor, of Bellflower, Mo., and Miss Kate Baker and C. A. Kropp of this city

Fulton Weekly Gazette, August 1, 1911. "Mrs. N. W. Tate, Dead. Mrs. Sophia Love Tate, aged 54 years, wife of Newton W. Tate, a well-known citizen of Williamsburg, died at the family home last Saturday morning of a complication of diseases, after an illness lasting two weeks. Funeral services were conducted at the Williamsburg Methodist church Sunday morning by Eld. S. J. Copher of Moberly, and burial was in the new cemetery at Williamsburg.

"Mrs. Tate was born on a farm three and one-half miles south of Williamsburg in 1857 and was married on February 1879, to Mr. Tate. He, with three sons, survives. The sons are Marvin and Lloyd of Jefferson City, and Claud of Williamsburg.

"Four brothers and two sisters are livings also. They are Charles W. and Douglass H. Love, of Williamsburg; George W. Love, of St. Louis; Robert W. Love, of Holiday; Mrs Sarah Fisher, of Texarkana, Tex,; and Mrs. F. A. Regot, of St. Charles.

"Mrs. Tate united with the Christian church when 14 years old and for 40 years was an earnest, consecrated follower of its teachings. She was also a member of the Williamsburg lodge of the Eastern Star. She was a good woman and will be greatly missed in the community in which she lived."

Mary Matilda Crockett was born in southwest Missouri September 21, 1858, and died at her home south of Williamsburg, September 5, 1932.

Her father being killed during the Civil War, she was reared in the home of her grandfather,James Love, in Callaway County. January 22, 1874, she was married to Jesse Taylor Tate. To this union 12 children were born, 8 of whom survive--Thos.N. of Mexico, J. Wesley, Marion and Ruth of Williamsburg,Lawrence E. and Grace of Columbia, and Iona and Lowell of Fulton; also two grandchildren Agnes and Finley Thomas Tate.

She united with Antioch Christian church in early life andwhen Oak Grove church was built moved her membership to that church where she remained an active member as long as herhealth permitted. She was a devoted mother and a warm friend.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. H. N. McKee were held at Oak Grove cemetery in Callaway county, September 6th at 2 p.m. A large number of relatives neighbors and friends were present.


Tate, Maggie H.

Maggie H. Tate, 88, of Fulton, died Saturday morning in Fulton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 10,
at the Church of God Holiness, with burial in the Riverview Cemetery. The Reverend E. G. Garrett will officiate. She was born December 27,
1885 in Callaway County, the daughter of Andrew and Martha Jane MARTIN. She married John Tate who preceded her in death in 1956. Survivors include two sons, Archie Lee, Steedman, and Melvin, Fulton, four Grand-children and eight great- grandchildren. Fulton Sun Gazette, Fulton, Callaway County, Missouri, July 1973


TATE, ROSANNA A.

Rosanna A. Tate, 67, of Fulton died August 15, 1987, at the Columbia Regional Hospital. Mrs. Tate was born May 5, 1920, in
Steedman, the daughter of Charles Baxter and Grace Bell DILLON PEERY. She married Melvin Tate on May 8, 1936, in Fulton and he survives at the home. Other survivors include three sons, Melvin W. Tate of Fulton, Gary K. Tate of Mexico, and Ronald E. Tate of Columbia; five grandchildren; one sister, Inez Maddox of Fulton; and one brother, Earl Peery of Fulton. She was preceded in death by a brother Edgar Peery, and a sister, Madonna Lawrence. Mrs. Tate sold Avon products for many years and had retired from the Safeway Grocery Store in Fulton. She was a member of the Church of God. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Miland Bourland at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1987, at the Debo Golden Rule Chapel. Burial will follow in Callaway Memorial Gardens. Visitation
will be Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dream Factory.

SERVICES OF ANNIE ORVIA HAYS OF MINEOLA

Annie Orvia Hays, daughter of John and Elizabeth Jane (Tate) Hays was born in Callaway County near Mineola, Mo June 20, 1885.

On August 22, 1906 she was married to John Warren Summers of the Price's Branch community. To this union was born Pauline, now Mrs. Charles Scanland, Auxvasse, and Forrest W. Summers of Roosevelt, Utah.

Mrs. Summers died at the Callaway Memorial Hospital , Fulton, Novembver 9, 1973.

She is survived by by two children, four grandchildren, Mary Helen Scanland Malan, Nellie Charlene Scanland Evert, Jane Evelyn Scanland Peterson and John Warren Summers. Also nine great grandchildren survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1960, by her sister Mrs. Roy (Georgia) Blackburn, 1950; and her brother William T. Hays in 1962.

She became a member of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church at an early age. Later her membership was moved to Mineola Baptist Church and then later transferred to the Montgomery City Baptist Church after she established her home in Montgomery City in 1956.

She was educated at Central Weslyan College, Warrenton, where she prepared herself for elementary teaching.

A greater part of her life has been spent in Callaway County near Mineola.
