Feb. 18 - 47 Mr.
Rosnagel. I read of your
experience with your little girl. Our little granddaughter now 3 1/2 years old
had the same thing happen at 6 months old. When born the Thymus gland located in
the chest next to the tube thru which she breathed was enlarged, pressing
against this tube. Xray pictures of the chest showed this to be enlarged. We had
three Xray treatments given to her chest which shrunk the Thymus gland to a
smaller size and she is a fine chubby little girl now. I
hope this will help you. Yours
truly, J. Milton Cartmell

Mrs. Elwood L.
Maloney

Maplewood, New Jersey
Dear Mrs. Rosnagel,
I saw the experience you and your husband had in our daily Newark News, and I am
very curious to know if you learned what caused the condition.
We lost our 8 months old grandson, with what was pronounced a
Thymus gland swelling after an autopsy.
He was found blue and cold in death when my daughter went to
pick him up from his after noon nap.
Dr.'s tell us there is nothing but X Ray to show this
existing condition, but if it is found and X Ray treatments given the gland can
be shrunken to its normal size.
They tell us the function of this gland is little understood,
all babies are born with it, it should shrink and get smaller until it
disappears, if it enlarges instead it causes suffocation.
I would be very glad to learn what your doctor said about the
case. I was so very happy for you, to think you were there when it happened and
your husband's presence of mind saved your precious child.
We are still heartbroken to have lost our dear grand baby.
Wishing you all good things. Sincerely
Nina* Maloney
