STORY TIME: Passed down by one Mrs.G.D. Brasel of Illinois to my father Joe B. See in the era of 1956/68. Joe writes copied from a letter stating that Michael went by foot some 500 miles round trip to the South Branch of the Potomac River to inspect the land prior to moving his family there.

Margaret  gave the names of Georges parents in the story.

She tells the story that he applied at an inn for lodging only to be told there was no room however he could sleep in the vacant house next door, but it was haunted. Not being afraid he accepted the offer and rolled up in his blanket for the night. Later he was awaken by a Boise so slipped to the door and fell upon the intruder as he entered. George knocked him out tied him up and the next morning called the landlord who identified the mas as a black man hired by a neighbor to haunt the house and thereby lower its value so he could purchase it at a reduction in price.

The See lineage that was in Hampshire and then into Randolph Co., were land gentry, judging from the records of "Simms Land Grants of West Va.". Some See holding ran into 100,000 acres!

Child of MATHIAS SEE/ZEH and ELEANOR is:

Arrived in Philadelphia, PA 1733,, took land in 1745 in Hampshire Co., VA.

According to Nugent Family in USA, George and Margaret were Huguenots and left the old country under harrowing circumstances, about 1710.

Nugen Family in USA also states that he and his family moved to Tulpehocken, Berks Co., PA before settling in Hampshire Co., VA.

According to Hal McCawley, 130 Beach Park, Foster City, CA 94404, Zeh came to Schoharie Co., NY with 1710 Palatinates, and then went on to Hardy Co., WV about 1740.

According to Peggy Bell (MDYA10A) P*, George was active in the Tulpehocken in the early 1700s.

Hal McCawley (above) claims to have most of the Sees in present day Hardy, Hampshire, Greenbrier and Kanawha Cos. WV from 1740s.[v28t2423.FTW]

This information came from Mrs John See of Farina, Ill.  and Mrs. Fern Horn of Newton, IA. in April 1966. Their records state that George came from Silesia, Germany to Philadelphia, U.S.A. with his wife Margaret Tschudi is also known as Margaret Judy!

The name See in early time was also spelled Zeh.

Their first child Fredrick Michael was born in the Tent City near London Abt 1710 so stories go.

The See family lived in Buck County Pennsylvania until 1745 when they moved to Hampshire County, Virginia..

George's last name was also spelled Zeh!

Margarets (Judy) Tschudi See's will listed as heirs a Malding, Betty, Barbara and Jacob See. Jacob See was later listed as a Rev. was soldier! Margarets will was probated between 3-28-1757 and 2-14- 1758..

STORY TIME: FROM A JAMES JIM OLSON VIA MY FATHER JOE B. SEE:

The second group led by George Ludwig See arrived on the "Pennsylvania Merehart" in Philadelphia in 1733. George's brother and family and George's family come on the same ship. George Ludwig's wife was Marguerete Judy (her will is on file at the old courthouse in Rommey, Virginia now know as West Virginia. There were about 10 in the party. One set of notes says that George's daughter Elinor, while another set of notes from my father Joe B. See says that Elinor was Georges sister? Who can unravel this Mystery?

They settled in Bucks County, Pa., U.S.A. and later moved to Muddy Creek (White Sulphur Springs Virginia, Now West Virginia.

On page 448 of Professor Daniel Rupp's list of those who came from the Palatinate in 1710 to Livingston Manor, New York, George Zeh.

According to an old genealogist, Cahterine told about her husband inspecting the land prior to his parents and his family traveling to the South Branch of the Potomac River. This was a journey of 500 miles on foot round trip. She said his parents were Eleanor and Mathias?

STORY TIME

Joe B. See's & Ida M. Wright, research: " 1956 thru 1982"

Since this seems to be an accepted origin of the Sees in America I "Harold J. See, son of Joe B. See & Ida M. Wright ",  will list data handed down to me.

Quote: I did not get a census report of Virginia at this time, but I did see the book titled (thirty thousand names of immigrants in Pennsylvania, by Rupp) and I found only John Benard See. A note at the end said it was in German and translated to America, the date was Nov. 25, 1740, and the ship was the Loyal Judith, the Commander was Lovell Paynter, from Rotterdam. There were 265 passengers listed and he was the only See.

I did find a John Ludwig See and a Valentine See's and have photostatic copies from Washington, D.C. of papers showing the battles that John See, whom I will carry as Rev. war John See. John later became a preacher and one elderly preacher wrote to me and said that John united over 100 couples in marriage including his son Garred and his first cousin Florence Garred. They moved to Kentucky and have many decedents there.

A Mrs. John Mildred Edgerton, of Washington D.C., told me that a John See and Nancy Morris were married in New Castle, Indiana, Henry Co. Ida & and went to Indiana and reviewed the records and their marriage was the third in their first book of marriages.

Next we found this couple in Story Co., Iowa in the 1856 census with several of their children not married and several in the Civil War.  In the history of Story Co., IA., page 357 says (some old settlers of the co., prior to 1858 were) Johathon See, John See Sr., John See Jr., Missouri See, Michael See, and Earl See.

I will give details of records etc., and some of the people who assisted my father, these will be under the individual history.

Notes for MARGARET "JUDY" TSCHUDI:

[v28t2423.FTW]

Margaret also listed in her will in 1751,a Mary See, Madling See, Barbara See, Betty Yocum and a Jacob See.

The making of Margaret's will was between March 28, 1757 and Feb. 14, 1758 time of probate and making!

At a court held for Hampshire County, February 14, 1758 the will of Margaret See was probated. George See qualified as administrator. Her eldest son Fredrick is left one Sterling Shilling. The rest is left to son George to be equally divided between Michael See, Felty Felton, Jacob Yokeham, Macking See, Barbara See, Mary See, and Jacob See.

The parents of Fredrick Michael See lived in Bucks Co., Pennsylvania before moving to Hampshire Co., Va.

Reference the See's in Augusta Co., Va., taken from Dr. Chalkey's abstract of records of the Co.:

1763, Aug 1764, The estate of Fredrick See and Valentine Yocum appraised. (Chalkey Vol. 3 page 107)

John Ewing captured at Muddy Creek, says that the massacre took place on ;July 15, 1763 and that captives were released at Pittsburg on May 14, 1765. (Chakley Vol. 2- page 93)

Fredrick Michael See was killed by Indians on July 17, 1763.

The records of Charleston, West Virginia Capital Library state that the last incursion, made by the Indians into this section was made in May 1791 when a party of 18 whites were attacked  by about 30 Indians at a point on the Ohio River about a mile north at the Fort of Point Plesant. The whites were defeated, Fredrick See, his son in law Greenberry Roach were killed. Thomas Northrop Hampton and a colored boy belonging to Fredrick See and Robert Sinclair were taken prisoners. Wm. See son of Fredrick See was born in the Fort at Point Pleasant, the same night his father was killed. The black boy never returned , he became an Indian chief and took part with the friendly Indians against the British during the war of 1812-14. Wm. See went as a volunteer with the Mason Co. Riflemen to the Northwest in 1813, and there met the colored chief with whom he became acquainted, and the black chief informed him that the Indian who shot his father at Point Pleasant was still living and totally blind. See requested to see him but the black chief fearing See would avenge the death of his father refused to reveal the Indians whereabouts.

In the Lewis History of West Virginia Page 537 dated July 15, 1798 is the same story.

A letter sent to my father Joseph Benjamin See states that George was 15 years old, Michael was 12 years old and John was 8 years old at the time their father was killed in the 1763 Indian Massacre.

Daughter Elizabeth See was held by the Indians for 9 years and married Chief Cornstalk. Later after Chief Cornstalk's death she escaped and later married a Peter Shoemaker on January 4, 1776. (From Rev. John Alderson marriage records)

Per records from Mrs Fern Horns family book,  son Fredrick Michel See qualified for administrator of his fathers estate on August 23, 1751, so his father

must have been deceased prior to that time.

Records state that Catherine and seven children were taken prisoner by the Shawnee Indians and held captive at Old Town for about one year. Then there was a prisoner exchange however the youngest son of Catherine, John, was left behind and raised by an Indian Family that had lost a son. Later Johns uncle Adam See, brother of Michael rescued him and took John back to Hampshire Co., Va. and raised him. Adam made the arrangements for ransom for Catherine and the other children.

Daughter Elizabeth a twin girl of Catherine was held captive for another nine years as the wife of Chief Cornstalk. Later she either escaped or was ransomed by Adam and then married Peter Shoemaker.

John enlisted in the army in 1776 under Capitan Arbuckle in Green briar County, Va. for the term of one year for the purpose of defending the western frontier from hostile Indians. He was stationed at Fort Randolph at the junction of the Kanawha River and the Ohio River. They were building the fort at this time.

While stationed here Chief Cornstock came into camp and offered to aid the settlers against the British, however many of the soldiers were under the influence of liquor and were making inflammatory remarks against the Chief, so the Capt. locked Chief Cornstock and his son Ellinipsco and Chief Red Hawk in the jail for their protection.  The soldiers overran the officers and sentries and took Chief Cornstock out for execution. He bravely folded his arms while hit seven times by musket fire. Chief Red Hawk and Ellinipsco had the same fate of being shot by the drunken mob of soldiers.

What must of John have been thinking  as this chief was the one that murdered his father and seduced his sister Elizabeth years earlier.

After Johns enlistment was up he joined for another three years enlisting in the Colonial Army of the Virginia Line 19th. Virginia Regiment under General Scotts Brigade. They joined forces under General Washington at West Camps Pennsylvania and wintered at Falley Forge in 1777-1778. Many died of the cold and starvation that year.

15.  FREDRICK MICHAEL3 SEE (GEORGE LUDWIG2, MATHIAS1 SEE/ZEH)345 was born 1710346,347, and died 15 July 1763 in Greenbrier Co., VA348,349.  He married CATHARINE VANDERPOOL349 1744 in Augusta Co., VA350,351.  She was born 1725 in Albany, Albany Co., NY352,353, and died 1808 in Greenbrier Co., VA354,355.

Notes for FREDRICK MICHAEL SEE:

[v2t4659.FTW]

Sees     got to Philadelphia Sept 1733 (inerval of 12 years where records cannot be found). They always owned land and were farmers, teachers, preachers, and road builders from their first arrival in America, but their name was spelled in a German fashion. They spoke German in their homes and schools for a generation or so, so those who could write did it in that language, so after the massacre during which the Indians burned their farm home, all papers were lost, no records of births, though it was said one of the women, likely Catharine, wife and widow of Frederick See, took her German Bible in her dress bosom through the whole ordeal of the massacre, and visitors to the museum on the Muddy Creek massacre think the German Bible may have been hers. Her father bought land in Greenbrier County and Frederick bought some from him. Had his second crop in but it was destroyed, all animals killed or drive off.

Col. Bouquet took back sevral of the See family but John, about 7, ran back to live with the Indians and was not returned until he was rescued by his Uncle Michael who was subsequently killed in another Indian battle.

According to Nugen Family in USA, Fredrick Michael was oldest child of the Sees, and was born while they were traveling in 1710. Fredrick Michael married Catherine Vanderpool of Wallpack, NJ in 1744, probably while living near his parents at Tulpehocken, Berks Co., PA.

According to Nugen Family in USA, both Fredrick and his son-in-law Littleberry Roach (?) were killed in the Shawnee raid led by Cornstalk and Puksinwah. Family taken to Old town in Ohio country and dispersed among different Indian families. Marker for Muddy Creek Massacre on Hiway 12 about a mile north of Alderson at the intersectio of Blakker's Mill Road and about a quarter of a mile west. Creek flows alongside of old mill. Market in pasture north of the mill about 300 yards and 50 yards west of Muddy Creek.

Account of Muddy Creek Massacre per Nugen Family in USA:

On Saturday, July 16, 1763, a party of 80 or 90 Shawnees, led by Chief Cornstalk (b. 1727 in Shenandoah Valley, d. Oct 10, 1777) and assisted by the great War Chief Puksinwah, having crossed over the Ohio River, swept up the Kanawha on a murderous rampage. Simultaneously they hit the nine member See family, and the six member Filty Yocum family. Suddenly the Indians appeared at the See cabin, wit all of the appearance of friendship, grinning and laughing. The Sees welcomed them, and as it was near to mealtime they offered to share their food with the Indians. The Shawnees agreed, no doubt also building cooking fires out of doors in order to feed such a large number of people. The meal finished, the Indians lounged around for a bit and rested. Suddenly with a whoop the Indians fell upon the whites, killing the father (Fredrick Michael) and the son-in-law (Littleberry Roach), scalping them before the eyes of their families. I don't know why George wasn't aso killed as he was 22 years old at the time. Maybe he offered no resistance. Ohter men and older boys were killed. The family was placed under guard and hurried along the back trail to Old Town (Ohio). . . .

This is the true and recorded story of the incident known as the "The Muddy Creek Massacre." The remaining warriors continued on to the only other white settlement in western VA, or west of the appalachians, namely Big Levels, which ws about 15 miles distant. Here the Indians approached the cabin of the Glendenin family in the same manner as at the Sees, friendly, laughing and grining. Mr. Glendenin had just killed three elk, so proceeded to roast the meal over cooking fires, surmising that it would take a lot for such a large group. In consideration of the number of people mentionedin this incident, there may have been several families located at Big levels, or else a large family group. The feast finally finished, the Indians were milling around old Grandma Glendenin who happened to notice a medicine man among the Indians. She had been bothered frosome time with a sore on her leg. She couldn't get it to head. She went up to the medicine man asking his advice about the sore. His answer ws to pull his tomahawk and crush her skull. During the melee which follows all of the men were supposedly killed. However, one old man, although wounded, managed to pul himself under a large fallen tre to hide, and thus escaped death. Here, as at Muddy Creek, all the women and children were herded back along the trail toward the Scioto country across the Ohio and on to Old Town. Mrs. Glendenin was carrying her baby and trying to e brave. The Indian who had scalped her husband kept coming to her and shaking her husband's scalp in front of her and finally hit her across the face several times with his bloody trophy. Still she wondered if her husband was really dead. After some distance she told one of the young ladies that she was going to try to escape. She gave the baby to the girl to carry as she didn't think she could succeed while encumbered with the baby. When she was certain all Indian eyes were focused elsewhere, she slipped off the trail and into the brush to hurry back toward the settlement. Later the baby started crying and the girl couldn't stop him. One of the Indians noticed and asked where the other was. He took the baby from the girl and said he would wait a bit for the monther. When she didn't appear he said "I will bring the cow to the calf," and so saying took the baby by the heels and dashed its head against a Tree.

Catharine See and her seven children were taken to Old Town and kept there by the Shawnees until there was a treaty and an exchange of prisoners ab out a year later. The family must have been separated during this stay, because the youngest child, John, was adopted by an Indian family who had lost their son. He was brainwashed by the couple's repeatedly telling him he would be burned alive if retaken by the whites. John became very fond of his ew parents, and the year with the Shawnees did much to erase from his mind the memory of his family and his former life. It is possible during this time he had no contact or even sight of any member of his family. When the time arrived for the prisoners to be released, all of the family except the twin, nine-year-old Elizabeth, were freed. Cornstalk would not agree to let her go, but kept her for nine more years during which time he took her as his squaw. Later she escaped or was ransomed, because she left the Indians, and married a white man named Peter Shoemaker. The freedom arrangements for the See family was a ransom deal negotiated by Adam See, Fredrick's brother. After being released from the Indians the party traveled about nine miles before darkness overtook them, and made camp for the night. Young John made his bed between two of his sisters, but he did not sleep. He lay awaken until he was certain everyone else was asleep, then crept out of camp and hurried back to his adopted family. Here he stayed for some time. One versions one year, while another says four years. Adam See finally ransomed hsi nephew John and took him back to Hampshire Co. where the rest of the family were now living. [v2t5069.FTW]

Notes for CATHARINE VANDERPOOL:

[v2t4659.FTW]

According to the VDP newsletter, Catharine was buried on the See farm on Muddy Creek. According to Hal McCawley she died in Chillicothe Co., OH.

Reported that Catharine Vanderpool See was allowed to go back within the year to VA. She was so spunky the Indian men admired her. Washington sent his French friend, Col. Bouquet to bring in the whites he could find in the Indian camp.

Our Sees were taken to Chillicothe, Catharine, George Michael and John, and three or four girls, Catharine, Elizabeth, Mary Margaret and maybe another one or two. Bouquet brought them all back except John. He was only about 7 and had learned to enjoy Indian boy life, so ran away from his older brothers in the night and went back to live another year or two with his adopted Indian mother, but Michael See gave $100 to white traders to bring back any white boys they found, thus John got back to Muddy Creek. He lived there a few years then enlisted under Washington and fought at Ft. Randolph until he got back from the Virginia Western Militia enlistment. In 1777 he enlisted for 3 years in the 12th Reg of the VA continental Army and served those 3 years, including Valley Forge and was mustered out in Camden, SC in 111781, returned to Greenbrier, married and had 9 children.

Another version of the family's rescue said Michael's brother Adam paid the ransom, but he had no brother Adam.

I.G.I. records on Catharine under VA have been tampered with and altered. They show her being born abt. 1724, Catharine (of Hampshire Co.), does not say where. It shows her marriage to Fredrick Michael in 1744 in Hampshire Co., not Augusta. May be same county with name changed.

Later in VA with her name spelled Vanderpoole, more alterations, gives her birth date as abt. 1732 (probably a typo which makes me wonder about these records), and gives her marriage twice in Augusta Co., once in 1744, the other in 1753. Children were born prior to 1753, so I don't believe this is right.

I.G.I. in NY shows Catherina born in NY, NY, bp 30 Jun 1725. It shows her born in Albany, also. Two listings, at last, three or four probably, and all altered and tampered with.

Notes for GEORGE SEE:

[v28t2423.FTW]

George was in the revolution war. A copy of John kippers rev. war papers from Monroe Co., Mo., U.S.A. George said that he was 80 years old and that he knew John Kippers and that they were rev. soldiers together. George named the battles and  Arbuckle  as the Captain and that he was in the army in 1877 and 1878. However DAR records state that he married Martha George in Green briar Co., Va., U.S.A.

George wrote in a letter that he had a brother named John See at Flat Rock, Indiana and Rever War John See did live in Flat Rock, Indiana at that time.

Letter sent to my father Joe B. See in 1956 stated that George went to Mo., U.S.A. about 1810.  Some of his sons came later!

Another letter sent to Joe B. See in 1966 from a Harry See of Monroe City, Mo. stated that George went to Monroe City, Mo., U.S.A. Abt 1815 or 1818 and that George applied for a pension in 1835, about the same time John Kippers did.

DAR records state that their marriage took place on Oct. 25, 1977 even though he stated he was in the service at that time when filing for a pension later.

Joe See's research found that a George See disposed of his farm  383 acres of land in Hampshire Co., Va., and purchased 218 acres of the West Side of ?Tygarts Valley River in the Caplinger Settlement in 1785. Several old genealogists wrote Joe and gave the list of his children.

This is an assumption on my part, Harold J. See that it is one and the same George See! (1998) so I will connect them until some one   lets me know  otherwise.

Children of GEORGE SEE and MARTHA GEORGE are:

                   i.       ELIZABETH5 SEE456, b. 1780456; d. WFT Est. 1794-1874456; m. THOMAS COBB456, WFT Est. 1794-1827456; b. WFT Est. 1763-1783456; d. WFT Est. 1795-1854456.

Notes for REV. REV. WAR JOHN SEE:

[v28t2423.FTW]

Information was furnished to Mr. Joseph Benjamin See and was obtained from Ira See of Florida, Mrs. Bertha Fuller and Mrs Robert See of Edenburg Texas, Dr. U.V. Garred, a dentist,  of Whiting Iowa and Mrs John Edgerton of Washington, D.C.

John became a preacher after the war. He was Abt 8 years old when his father was killed in  by the Indians at Fort of Point Pleasant on the Ohio River. This raid was known as the Muddy Creek Massacre.

On a Saturday, July 16, 1763 a party of 80 to 90 Shawnees, led by Hakolesqua, better known as Cornstock, born Abt 1727, in Shenandoah Valley and assisted the the great war chief Puksinwah, crossed over the Ohil and swept up the Kanawha River on a murderous rampage. Simultaneously they hit the ten member See family, here as usual the records state See/Lee and the six members of the Felty Yocum family.

Without warning and with a whoop the Indians killed Johns Father Fredrick Michael See and Brother in law Littleberry Roach, scalping them before their eyes. Littleberry Roach was married to Margaret See, Johns older sister.

Records state he died in Lewisville, Indiana, however also state that he was buried in Macom County, Illinois!

Rev. John See enlisted with the Virginia Volunteer Militia on April 1776.

John participated in the battles of German town, Monmouth  and the storming of Stony Point! At one time he was taken as a prisoner of war.

John applied for a pension in Henry Co., Indiana in 1832. The last payment was made on Jan 2, 1837. His pension claim number was S. 17538.

Notes for JOHN JR. SEE:

[v28t2423.FTW]

Per records of my father Joseph Benjamin See, Data given by Mrs Mildred Edgerton of 4415 Volta Place NW, Washington, D.C.:

John and Nancy Morris See moved to Story County Iowa prior to the Civil War. My father stated that his father Bunk See had told him that he, "Bunk", had two Uncles that were never married. They are buried in Story County near Iowa city, Iowa, U.S.A.

There are Civil War records on John, his brothers Achilles, David, Silas, and George.

Tome stones at Rock Creek Cemetery state that John died in 1883 , living to the age of 72 years, 8 months, and 16 days!

Tome stone of wife states that she died July 16, 1889 at the age of 74 years, 7 months, and 7 days.

The 1860 Story County Iowa New Albany TWP census records, acknowledge John See, Nancy Morris See and a Sidney See, Van Meter, widow, age 30 all living there at the time.

The list of children was taken from the 1850 census of Piatt Co., Illinois. The family lived in  Wayne County, Indiana prior to moving to Illinois, as  the records state that their son John was born in Henry County, Indiana.

John and Nancy marriage was recorded at the court house in New Castle, Indiana, Henry Co. and was the third marriage recorded in the first book.

Next they were recorded in Story Co., IA., in the 1856 census with several of their children not married yet, and several in the civil war a few years later.

On page 357 it says old settlers of the Co. prior to 1858 were Jonathon See: John See Jr., Missouri See, Michael See, and Earl See.

In the 1833 census, John and Nancy had listed as living in their household an  Achillies See, born Abt. 1833, however there is no record of his being one of their children?  Achillies died in the Civil War. He never married and was born in Indiana.

Dragged by a deer, Isaac Vincent was a slave, bought in Rickmond, and raised near Huttonsville. He remained with his master during the civil war and died sometime after 1865. On one occasion he discovered a vey large buck swimming in the river near his house and he swam in and caught it by the horns. As long as he could touch bottom and it could not he could manage it, but when it came to the shore it caught him on its horns and ran with him. He was unable to extricate himself and was dragged a half mile. All his clothing was torn off and he was covered with blood when rescued by Charles See.

Could this have been Adams son Charles?

Notes for MICHAEL JR. SEE:

[v28t2423.FTW]

Michael moved with his older brother Adam to Randolph Co, Va., in 1793. Later he moved back to Hardy County and married Catherine Baker, daughter of Anthony Baker, a Revolutionary solider, Van Meter's History.

Mrs. Georgianne Dunlap Arnold of Central Illinois stated that she had a letter from a,  "J B See",Joseph Baxter See, of Valley Head, a Grandson of Michael and Catherine See. J.B. See stated in the letter that his grandparents moved to Missouri with several children before the civil war.

Michael moved to Mo., U.S.A.  in 1837, where he died. Michael was a Famer owning a large farm of more that 500 acres in the Tygarts Valley between the town of Huttonsville and the present site of the town of Mill creek. On this farm he erected a brick residence probably the first brick structure ever erected in Randolph Co. The main part of which is still standing (1965) near the Parkersburg and Staunton Turn Pike. This farm he sold in the year of 1828 to Charles C. See, a son of Adam See, and taking his family with him migrated to Randolph Co., W. Va. and then moved west to Montgomery Co., Missouri, U.S.A. where several of his children had settled.

Daughter Mary Polly and husband George never moved to Mo. and continued to live in W. Va.

Son Anthony never moved from W. Va., but his son George Washington did move to Montgomery Co., Mo., U.S.A.

Notes for NIMROD SEE:

[v28t2423.FTW]

Nimrod and spouse had three children, per Mr. Yokum in his correspondence with Joe B. See!

It is believed by Joe B. See and Mr Yokum that this Nimrod See was from Va., moved to Kentucky,  then on to Missouri and his lineage is the Sees at Tama, Albia and Keota Iowa.

There was a Nimrod See on the 1830 Hardy County W.Va., census and also on the Montgomery Co., Ky. 1830 census. There was no Nimrod See in the 1840 Hardy County Census, but he appeared again on the 1840 Montgomery Co., Ky., census. Maybe he was counted twice in 1830!

Nimrod See of Ky., and wife Anna as named in the 1850 census in Montgomery Co., Ky. Reports were that he was a Confederate Solider in the Civil War.

Anna must have been his second wife since she was only 26 years old in 1850 and Nimrod had children born in 1828, 1830, etc.,

Nimrod was counted in the 1860 census in Schuyler Co., Mo.
