Freeman and family are living in the household of James Curry, age 45 on the 1860 census in Newton County, Mississippi.

Dwelling 2135 Household 2143 is Joel Curry (41) Farmer, Value of Real Estate $15,000 b-SC, wife Elizabeth (33) probably children: Susan 15, William 14, Mary 12, Sarah 10, Amy 7, Thomas 5, Wam'n 3, Mary Holmer 7 all show to have been born in SC.

John Curry, age 25, farm laborer is shown as HOH, with Real Estate Value: $500, Personal Property $170. This would be her son John, so I assume the property values are actually his father's, on the 1860 census Freeman's property value was $7,000, looks like a good example of the effects of the Civil War.
