• Military-Korean & Vietnam: He attained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force before retiring after 25 years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict.
During his military career, he served at duty stations in San Antonio, Texas, F.G. Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming, Carswell Air Force Base, Texas; K-16, Seoul, Korea, Hamilton Air Force Base, Calif., twice at Hickman Air Force Base in Hawaii, McClellan Air Force Base in California, twice at Travis Air Force in California, Sunnyvale AFS in California, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Saigon, Vietnam and Tinker Air Force Base.

• Vernon L. Riley, 74, of Garber, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at his home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Garber Cemetery, Garber. Arrangements are under direction of Dugger Funeral Home of Garber.
