39. William J.⁷ HANKS I (Thomas⁶, Thomas⁵, Thomas⁴, Thomas³, George², John¹) was born February 1, 1654/55 in North Farnham Parish in Richmond Co., VA^[1]^,^[2] and married Sarah Woodbridge on May 1, 1678.^[3] William died before February 7, 1704 in Richmond Co., VA.^[4]

He was a farmer and cooper.^[5]

Sarah WOODBRIDGE was born circa 1630. After William J. Hanks died, Sarah married Richard White in 1705.^[6]

Children of William J.⁷ Hanks I and Sarah Woodbridge were as follows:

+ 59. i. William⁸ Hanks II, born February 14, 1679 in Whitemarsh, Richmond Co., VA; married Hester C. Mills.

+ 60. ii. Luke Hanks I, born February 10, 1684/85 in North Farnham Parish, Richmond Co., VA; married Elizabeth Glascock.

61. iii. John Hanks I; born after 1687;^[7] married Catharine ? circa 1712;^[8] died circa 1740 in Richmond Co., VA.^[9]

John’s descendants migrated into Kentucky, Missouri and westward.^[10]
