"John B. Hylton was a preacher and evangelist in the Duncard Church. He joined the church in 1861, and after becoming a minister, solemnized 78 marriages. He was Commissioner of Revenue 1854-1858. Capt. of Militia in the Civil War."^[5] He was a farmer between 1854 and 1860 in Floyd Co., VA. Listed with $1164 in real estate and $1500 in personal property in 1860.^[6]^,^[7]

Margaret HARTER; daughter of Adam Harter and Margaret Stigleman was born on October 13, 1820 in Floyd Co., VA.^[8]^,^[9] She died on February 10, 1884 in Floyd Co., VA, at age 63; cause "unknown," age given as 63 years, 7 months, 3 days.^[10]

247. ix. Leroy Merrit Hylton; born June 10, 1854 in Willis, Floyd Co., VA;^[16]^,^[17] died July 24, 1870 in Floyd Co., VA, at age 16.^[18]

249. xi. Albert Ellis Hylton; born February 21, 1859 in Willis, Floyd Co., VA;^[22]^,^[23] married Mary Emmaline Burnett November 3, 1881 in Floyd Co., VA; died October 16, 1933 in Manhattan, Riley Co., KS, at age 74.^[24]

250. xii. Allie Amanda Hylton; born November 24, 1861 in Willis, Floyd Co., VA;^[25] married Leonard J. Dickerson February 15, 1883 in Floyd Co., VA; died December 14, 1963 in Galax, VA, at age 102.^[26]

251. xiii. Samuel Garver Hylton; born July 23, 1864 in Willis, Floyd Co., VA; married Maggie Ellen O'Neal July 22, 1886 in Floyd Co., VA; died January 28, 1918 in Eaton, Preble Co., OH, at age 53.^[27]

Ala Ann HARMAN; daughter of Jacob S. Harman and Sophia Huff was born in 1836. She died in 1900.^[28]

Elijah W.⁵ HYLTON (Archelaus⁴, Elijah³, George², John¹); born January 15, 1830 in Floyd Co., VA; married Hannah Bowman February 3, 1853 in Floyd Co., VA;^[29] married Mary Bowman Phillips December 25, 1884; died December 2, 1903 in Floyd Co., VA, at age 73; buried in Topeco Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Floyd Co., VA.^[30]^,^[31]

He lived between 1853 and 1869 in Floyd Co., VA; in 1850 he was a farmer in the Western District, Floyd Co., VA, living with father Archilas Hylton.^[32] Listed in 1860 as living with his parents (ages 79 & 75) as a farmer with $1,119 in personal property. Presumably Elijah was working his father's farm. Father listed with $11,000 in real estate.^[33]^,^[34]

Hannah BOWMAN; daughter of Christian Bowman and Hannah Rhinehart was born on October 19, 1830. She died on February 22, 1884 in Floyd Co., VA, at age 53; rheumatic fever; buried in Topeco Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Floyd Co., VA.^[35]^,^[36]
