He was farmer between 1850 and 1860 in Floyd Co., VA with $2000 in real
estate in 1850 and then $1440 in real estate and $1385 in personal property in

Mary Ann SLUSHER;
daughter of Christopher Slusher was born on April 26, 1803 in VA. She died on

1862. John was a participant and
survivor of Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg, PA on Jul 3, 1863. Wounded at Drewry's Bluff and admitted to
Chimborazo Hospital on May 16, 1864 with a gunshot wound to the right
forearm. Returned to duty on Sep 23,
1864. Furloughed on May 31, 1864. Captured at High Bridge on Apr 6, 1865. Released from Point Lookout on Jun 3, 1865.[15],[16]

He began military service on May 16, 1861 when he enlisted in Co. A of

Williamsburg, VA. Reduced to ranks on
May 10, 1862. Absent sick Aug 10,
1862. Participant and survivor of
Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg, PA on Jul 3, 1863. Promoted to Corporal Jun 30, 1864. Admitted to Farmville Hospital on Apr 2, 1865 with gunshot wound
and sent to Lynchburg, VA on Apr 6, 1865.[19],[20]

He began military service on March 28, 1862 when he enlisted in Co. A of
the 54th VA INF in Richmond, VA. Ananias was wounded in action at Chickamauga,
GA on Sep 19, 1863. On clothing receipt
dated Apr 14, 1864. He was taken
prisoner of war at Peach Tree Creek, Atlanta, GA on Jul 20, 1864 and sent to
Camp Douglas, IL where he was held until he died there on Nov 18, 1864 of
pleuritis and was buried in the Oakwood Cemetery in Chicago, IL. Resident of Floyd Co., VA born Sep 28, 1843.[28]

VA;[33] married Nancy Ellen Wade May 17, 1827 in Montgomery Co., VA;[34] died January 13, 1892 in Floyd Co., VA, at
age 84; cause "la grippe."[35]
He ran a store near Myra Fork, and later ran a Jacksonville hotel in
Jacksonville, VA (Now Floyd, VA). He
became sheriff from 1848-1850.[36] He
was a farmer in the Western District of
Floyd Co., VA with $6000 in real estate in 1850; in 1860 he was listed
as Hotel Proprietor in the town of Floyd Court House with $10,670 in real
estate and $534 in personal property.[37],[38]
A slave, Eliz. Jane, was born to Mary in 1853 in Floyd Co., VA. The owner was Bryant Hylton. In 1858, another slave Cesla? was born to
Mary whose owner was Bryant Hylton.[39]
Nancy Ellen WADE;
daughter of Anderson & Polly Wade was born on September 20, 1809 in
Franklin, VA.[40] She died on January 25, 1892 in Floyd Co.,
VA, at age 82; cause "la grippe."[41]
