Descendants of John Duncan (c. 1715-1795) of Virginia

2.  John DUNCAN Sr. (2288); of Fauquier Co., VA born 1741;[1],[2] married Elizabeth Holtzclaw (4923), daughter of Johann Holtzclau (4932) and Katherine Thomas Russell (4933), before 1762 in Fauquier Co., VA;[3] died 1833 in Floyd Co., VA.[4]

     He began military service in 1761 in Fauquier Co., VA and was a militia member in the French and Indian War.[5]     

     “Sep 18, 1782-John Duncan, assignee of Wm. Lawson, Commisioner's certificate, 300 acres on Laurel Creek of Little River (settled 1776-p. 117)” Land Records of Montgomery County on September 18, 1782.[6]

     "1783, JOHN DUNKEN, 185 acres Laurel Creek, branch of Little River, on a Comissioners certificate" in 1783 in Montgomery Co., VA.[7]

     A John Duncan is listed on the July 15, 1801 survey as the owner of 150 acres on in Montgomery Co., VA.[8]

 

     Elizabeth “Beth Ann” HOLTZCLAW (4923)[9] of Fauquier Co., VA, was born circa 1745.[10] She died circa 1815 in Montgomery Co., VA.[11],[12]

     Children of John Duncan Sr. (2288) and Elizabeth Holtzclaw (4923) were as follows:

           3.        i.    Seth (4929); born circa 1765 in Fauquier Co., VA;[13],[14] married Polly Kerby (5540) 1798.[15]

           4.        ii.    Henry (4925); born circa 1772 in Fauquier Co., VA;[16] married Lavina Acres (5543) January 14, 1799 in Montgomery Co., VA.[17]

+         5.      iii.    Blanch Sr. (120), born circa 1775 in Fauquier Co., VA; married Nancy Reed (2285).

           6.       iv.    Mary (4924); born October 30, 1776 in Fauquier Co., VA.[18]

           7.       v.    Thomas (4926); born circa 1785 in Montgomery Co., VA;[19] married Sarah ? (5542) circa 1805.[20]

           8.       vi.    Greenberry (4927); born 1785 in Montgomery Co., VA;[21] married Nancy Phillips (5541) circa 1805;[22] died May 10, 1860.[23]

+         9.     vii.    John S. Jr. (2296), born 1786 in Montgomery Co., VA; married Rody ? (5469).

         10.     viii.    Elisabeth (2297);[24] born circa 1788 in Montgomery Co., VA;[25],[26] married Robert Simpkins Jr. (2298), son of Robert Simpkins Sr. (2299), February 3, 1807 in Montgomery Co., VA.[27]

         11.       ix.    Peggy (4928); born circa 1790 in Montgomery Co., VA.[28]
