22. George W.5 ROSEBERRY (Calvin4, James3, William2, Jesse1); born February, 1844 in TN;[1] married Electra Flora (--?--) circa 1864 in Carroll Co., VA;[2],[3] died June 7, 1929 in Pulaski Co., VA, at age 85.[4]
He lived in 1860 in Hillsville, Carroll Co., VA; with his father, Calvin.[5] He was a farm laborer and then a farmer on the 1860 and 1880 censuses.[6],[7],[8]
He began military service on January 1, 1863 in Dublin, Pulaski Co., VA. A Civil War veteran, George enlisted in the 37th Battalion VA Cav., Co. H. He was present on the 9-10/63 and 4/64 muster rolls.[9]
In 1880 in the Sulphur Springs District, Carroll Co., VA, George was listed as not able to read or write.[10] He lived between 1900 and 1920 in the Sulphur Spring District, Carroll Co., VA.[11],[12] He left a will on January 3, 1929 in Pulaski Co., VA:
I, George W. Roseberry, of the County of Pulaski, Va., make this my last will and testament.
1. After the payment of my just debts I give, devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife, all of my estate, both real and personal, except as hereinafter provided, for and during her natural life, and at her death to my Grandson, Emmett Roseberry.
2. I give to my son Stephen Roseberry, for his natural life, and at his death to his son, Glen Roseberry, one acre of land which he now occupies and on which he now resides.

A writing purporting to be the last will and testament of George W. Roseberry, late of this County, deceased, who departed this life on June 7, 1929, was this day presented in said office by Mrs. E. Flora Roseberry, widow of George W. Roseberry, deceased, and proved according to law by the oath of Frank L. Smith and A. H. Pike, the two subscribing witnesses thereto, and was thereupon ordered to be recorded as the true last will and testament of George W. Roseberry (who signs himself G. W. Roseberry), deceased.
