1.  James RANKIN (614);[1] born 1824 in Pulaski Co., VA;[2] married Amanda M. Godby (615), daughter of Francis Marion Godby (902) and Rhoda Whitt (906), February 12, 1850 in Pulaski Co., VA;[3] married Hannah (--?--)(616) about 1855; died after 1870.[4]

     Rankin was a laborer in 1850 living in the 48th District, Pulaski Co., VA.[5] He began military service on September 10, 1863 in Pulaski Co., VA.  He was a Civil War Veteran, enlisting in the 4th VA INF, Co. C-"The Pulaski Guards."[6] He ended military service after September, 1864.[7]

 

     Amanda M. GODBY (615)[8],[9] was born in 1829 in Pulaski Co., VA.[10] She died circa 1853 in Pulaski Co., VA.[11],[12]

     Children of James Rankin (614) and Amanda M. Godby (615) were:

           2.        i.    Mary Jane (590), born after February 12, 1850 in Pulaski Co., VA; married Thomas Baker King (589).  For more on this family see the King section.

             

 HANNAH (--?--)(616)[13] was born in 1823.[14] She died after 1870.[15]

           9.     vii.    Sarah Ann (623); born 1866 in Pulaski Co., VA.[22]
