“DECLARATION was filed in Floyd County Virginia by Daniel
Howell Senr. personlally in said county 21 September 1833 July 13. States that,
in his first tour served under Capt. Joshua Wilson of one month- which was an
early period of the war Summer of 1778. 2nd tour was within one year after his
first--declarant by reason of his great age and time can not recollect than to
say that it was the CHEROKEE EXPEDITION and he thinks he left home August
following the June in which he recd certificate of discharge - -he returned
early in the winter of --- went on 3rd expedition - last tour completed just
before the battle of Guilford Court House N C .
He served at least
nine months
States he was BORN in Philadelphia Co. Pennsylvania 1759, He
removed from his present residence soon or not very long after the revolution,
moved, not out his present neighborhood into the adjoining county of PATRICK
where he remained about 5 years Then he returned into the county where he now
resides -to wit; FLOYD CO. VA
Declaration in Floyd Co Va
1836 June 20, on motion of FRANCES HOWELL widow of Daniel Howell dec'd. That
pensioner Daniel Howell died intestate March 5, 1836, that he intermarried with
said Frances Howell and she is still
alive.
It was stated he enlisted from Botetourt Co. Va, that he
served on Cherokee Expedition, Reedy Fork of Haw river.[4]

River" in 1790 in Botetourt Co., VA.[5]
"1794, JACOB PECK from Daniel Howel, 104 acres west fork,
Little River" in Montgomery Co., VA.[6]

Benjamin posted bond to secure appointment of William Thompson as constable on
June 6, 1809 in Montgomery Co., VA.[27]
He was the Justice of the Peace in Floyd Co., VA.[28]
