The first three children were born in Rowan County, North Carolina. They lived in Barren County, Kentucky where Elias died. Tabitha and children later moved to Jackson County, Alabama. Tabitha's maiden name is unknown.

Gideon was the son of James (1736-1811) Welborn and wife, Isabella Teague. James was born in St. George's Parish, Baltimore County, Maryland and died in Barren County, Kentucky.

James was the son of William Welborn (1713-after1782) and wife, Ann Crabtree. William was born in Harford County, Maryland and died in Rowan County, North Carolina.

William was the son of Edward Welbourne (@1660-1731) and Mrs. Elizabeth Mitchell. Edward was probably born Chester County, Pennsylvania and died in Baltimore County, Maryland.
