In the name of God Amen I William Swinscoe of Fairfield being in good memory and perfect mind but weak in body praise be given to almighty God do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say First and principally I commend my soul into the hands of almighty God hoping through the merits, oath and passion of my saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon and forgiveness of all my sins and to inherit everlasting life and my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executrix hereinafter named and as touching the disposition of all such temporal estate as it hath pleased almighty God to bestow upon me I give and dispose thereof as followeth in primis I will that my debts and funeral charges shall be paid and discharged Item I give and bequeath to Judith my wife all the rest of my goods cattle and chattels till such time as Jonathan my son shall accomplish the age of one and twenty then my will and mind is that Jonathan my son shall have the said goods cattle and chattels except one pair of bed sheets with furniture thereunto belonging and one chessboard standing in the lower parlour which bedsheets and furniture and chessboard I give to Judith my wife Item I give and bequeath unto Judith my wife the lower parlour during her natural life. give and bequeath unto William Swinscoe my son the sum of three poundss to put him Apprentice to be paid out of my messuage and lands when Jonathan my son shall accomplish the age of one and twenty and seven pounds more out of the said messuage and land to be paid to the said William when he the said William shall accomplish the age of twenty and four but if it shall happen that the said William be not bound apprentice then it is my will and mind that the said sums of three pounds and seven pounds shall be paid to the said William my son both together when he the said William the age of twenty and four years Item I give and bequeath unto Jonathan Swinscoe my said son all my messuage and land thereunto belonging except the lower parlour before be quoted, and to his heirs for ever he the said Jonathan and his heirs holding and paying to the said Judith my wife the sum of four pounds a year ? during her natural life if he the said Jonathan and she the said Judith cannot agree to live together and for neglect of payment of the said four pounds yearly and ? paid during her natural life (that is to say) two pounds at the feast of Saint John the Baptist and two pounds at the feast of Saint Martin the ? then my will and mind is the said Judith my wife shall enter upon the messuage and land without any molestation or interrogation and enjoy the same peaceably and quietly till the said Jonathan my son shall satisfied the said ? I ordain and make Judith my wife full and sole executrix of this my last will and testament and do hereby revoke all other wills and testaments heretofore made In witness whereof I the said William Swinscoe have hereunto put my hand and seal the twenty ninth day of August in the year of our Lord One thousand six hundred and eighty eight
