He began military service William served in WW1 as a NCO cavalryman in the XX (20th) Hussars and was mentioned in despatches. still in the army during the 20's. Later became a marine engineer on the Grimsby Trawler fleet. Met Eveline Pacey as kids, story goes he vowed to marry her but she married John Colebrook brother of her sister Nells husband. John died of TB in 1928 and William and Eveline finally married in 1930 . Had only one Child, Colin William 1n 1934, when Wm was 47 and Eveline 45. Wm died in October 1963 aged 76 cause of death,Throat cancer (probably due to the 40 capstans a day) William spent many years on the Grimsby trawler fleet as a marine engineer and was renowned for having a still rigged around the steam engine where he made moonshine.1
Eveline previously married to ohn Colebrook, who died of TB in 1920,s.1
