He was the son of John Sherwood and Anne Lane.1 James Sherwood was christened on 26 August 1827 at St Peters, Richmond, New South Wales, Australia. He married Matilda Gosper, daughter of Joseph Gosper and Ann Marsden, on 3 May 1853 at Colo, New South Wales, Australia. James Sherwood died on 14 October 1861 at Freemans Reach, New South Wales, Australia, at age 35; Consumption.
