Mary Anne Gutteridge immigrated on 23 September 1857 to Sydney, New South Wales, Australia; per the 'Admiral Lyons' as an assisted immigrant. They left Liverpool in England on the 18 June 1857. The log book of the 'Admiral Lyons', declares that Mary Anne's father, Thomas, had died & her mother, Frances, was onboard with her new husband, Mr. Levi PLUMMER. It is unsure where the family lived during the first few years in the 'new' country, but they may have also lived at the 'Gledswood' station at the same time as Mary Anne. On 23 September 1857. It is unclear how they met, but on their wedding certificate it describes David's usual residence as Camden, which was not far from Mary Anne's residence of the time, 'Gledswood'. In the 1860's, the owners of "Gledswood", were James and Isabella Chisholm. Among the visitors to the homestead was Caroline Chisholm, a relative by marriage, who would visit "Gledswood" on her epic journeys around the state to find domestic positions for single girls who had migrated from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. It is most probable that some of these girls became housemaids at "Gledswood". Was one of the girls, Mary Anne? In 1860. She was Housemaid in 1860 at Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. She married David Boon, son of David Boon and Lucy Woolley, on 9 April 1860 at St Johns Church, Camden, New South Wales, Australia.1,2 Mary Anne Gutteridge was on the 1903 electoral roll. Her occupation was listed as domestic duties. In 1903 at 189 Liverpool Rd, Ashfield, New South Wales, Australia. She died on 10 August 1906 at Ashfield, New South Wales, Australia; cause of death was due to Dilated Heart, Chronic Asthma.3 Section: 2 Row: 10 Grave: 494/495.3,4 The Following was taken from a column in the Canberra Times - 15 February 2000. Man who grew 'the finest wheat in Australia' David Boon, described as an agricultural labourer, arrived in Sydney in the ship John Bunyan on October 27, 1857. The son of David and Lucy Boon (nee Woolley), he had been born at Ramsey, Huntingdonshire, England on January 1, 1836. After his arrival in Australia, David went first to the Campbelltown area. By 1875 David had established himself as a farmer and in that year he and Shelton Smith, also of Weetangera, were mentioned as growing 'perhaps the finest wheat produced in Australia'. The Boons were leading members of the Wesleyan Church and David taught and acted as Superintendent of the Sunday School at Weetangera Church. David Boon left the district in 1891.
